About
I’m thankful to have been raised in the country and that my homesteading great gramma taught me the value of work and integrity at a young age. When I shake hands to start a new project there are several things a client of mine can be confident in:
1. I will communicate clearly and extensively about the scheduling of the project, the various steps involved, and the expected outcome.
2. I only start a new project when I am completely confident I can do it right the first time. I don’t do guesswork.
3. I will be on site at all times, I won’t just be managing the project from a distance.
4. Once I start a project it will be my main priority until it is complete.
5. Since construction/remodeling is a dynamic process I make sure to disclose any new information that arises and will give plenty of opportunity for a client to adjust the plan if needed.
This is the way I like to approach the business aspects of my projects because it keeps the stress down and lets me focus on the personal satisfaction I get from the building process. I enjoy it when I get to fix a significant problem like a door that doesn’t lock right. When I get to build something that will last for decades I know I’ve made a real impact. And I’m happy If I'm able to provide a creative way forward to what seemed out of reach of a clients budget.
My favorite thing about construction is when I'm driving around and see a project I did in the past. I've been building since 2001 so there's a lot of old projects to see. Before starting my professional career near Olympia, WA I grew up on a farm in eastern CO fixing and building everything from gates to sheds to roofs to fence. I’ve been in Albuquerque now for a couple years and love it.
In general I consider construction a “people” business, when something breaks or just doesn't perform as expected it's like a toothache; the longer it goes unaddressed the more overwhelming and painful it becomes. I enjoy the look of relief on a clients face when the "toothache" is fixed.

Although the job was small, e did the job excellently and I will definitely use him for the many other projects on the table. He also educated me on things for future jobs as well as the one he was working on. I found him to be honest, sincere, and punctual. I would definitely recommend him. After dealing with so many unethical contractors, it was an experience unlike any other to finally come across an ethical, conscious, caring and respectable young man!

Our project wasn't for the average craftsman and so we were extremely lucky to find a skilled framing carpenter in Logan. We purchased a home that was built by the previous owners who were in no way carpenters and one could say they were winging it at best. Logan came on to the scene after we had gutted the house down to framing and it was a mess. Nothing was framed to normal specs or even plumb. Logan came in with a ton of knowledge, ideas, problem solving, and hard work. He was able to see past the chaos of what was there and make a plan of how to rehabilitate it into a functional and solid structure and all while reusing as much of the existing lumber and materials on hand as possible. On top of being an outstanding craftsman, Logan is also a great communicator. Whether it was about the job or when he'd be showing up to work he was always consistent in his communication with us which we have found is not very common in this trade. Overall Logan was a joy to have around our project and we plan on hiring him to do more work for us as we move through our whole house remodel. Logan has a great positive attitude to boot. I honestly can't wait to have more work for him as he has become a friend as well.

Finding Brien was a life savor for us. We tried unsuccessfully to get a trucking firm to do the crating but they would not touch it. Thanks to Brien and his accepting this unbelievably hot crating job we were able to line up the trucking company to schedule a pick up our machine for later that afternoon. Brien gave me an early "not to exceed" quote and only charged us for the actual time and materials used that was approximately 30% of the projected quote. To beat it all, I am located in Indiana and had never met this man or had him do any type of work for us prior to this project. It was a memorable experience that will never be forgotten. We truly thank you for all of your support with this project.

After interviewing a number of people I finally found Logan at Something Constructive. I had a unique project that needed someone who could think out of the box. I had a idea what I wanted. I told Logan what I needed to be done and he ran with it. The project was a hideaway staircase/ladder for my workshop. It included rails for the stairs to slide out from a overhead storage area. It also has a pulley system to lift stairs so it could be stored overhead. In two days Logan was completed and within my budget. I highly recommend Logan at Something Constructive for your home projects.

We have hired Logan for 3 projects so far (a patio cover, a storage shed, and a deck) and we would definitely hire him again. He has a solid work ethic and the quality of his work is fantastic. He always make sure to ask us if there are any quirks or anything we are not completely happy with, and comes back to fix them. He’s been super reliable and communicative and makes sure to understand exactly what we want and what our vision is, and give us options about different materials. We’ve found his prices to be reasonable and affordable. All around we are very happy with the work he’s done.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If the project is simple I’ll do a bid.
If there are unanswered questions or complexities I simply charge by the hour
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When starting with a new client I'm very careful when asking about the issue, very often the issue is just a symptom or there are other long term considerations. Also, it's very important to know what the budget and timeline look like so I can make a realistic assessment of the project. Finally, it's critical to have an understanding of the personalities involved since I essentially become a short term house guest until the project is completed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. and I started building 20 years ago. I have worked on everything from a $40,000 executive table to a $400,000 custom home addition to a $40 garden bench.
