Canine Life Skills has improved our lives and our dog's life tremendously. We adopted a Goldendoodle in November and quickly realized he was very skiddish and often acted out to get attention. He would jump on people, tables, and counters without hesitation. Perhaps the most difficult time for us was when placing Jacob in his crate or playpen. He would squeal, bark, and hurl himself off the sides of the crate to the point where we were concerned about injury. He also lacked the ability to properly communicate with other dogs - primarily because we had not exposed him to social situations. After initial consultation with Angela, we decided to enroll Jacob in a 10 day training program. The transformation has been amazing. No longer do we spend the day yelling at our little man. His demeanor is one of calmness and confidence and he understands what is expected of him. He calmly enters and exits his crate without hesitation and he walks perfectly on a leash. We continue to work on the commands daily for reinforcement. At our most recent vet visit, our veterinarian remarked how he seemed like a different dog. We are very happy with the decision to utilize the services at Canine Life Skills and would highly recommend the services to any pet owner.

Angela has trained our four dogs. She is outstanding. Our boys are happy, confident, and have great manners - all of which we owe to Angela. They continue to spend time with her periodically to keep their best manners. We send everyone we know to her.

I have a corgi puppy, and we did 7 private training sessions. We loved the individualized attention and personalized training plan. My corgi is just under a year old. She had issues with running away, barking when given a command, and just being too stubborn. We have broken all of those issues and she is doing great. She will now come and sit by my feet when called. I would recommend this training to anyone, no matter what doggy issues you're having. Angela is kind and extremely patient.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Our most popular program is our puppy Head Start. It gives busy puppy owners a better mannered puppy without having to attend weekly classes.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

16 week old labradoodle, Jacob, would bark, cry and bounce around in his crate. His owners were looking for help to teach him to settle down and accept going into his crate plus some basic manners. After our 10 day board and train program Jacob would rest quietly in his crate, was listening to his owners and was much easier to live with.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Not all training is the same. The profession of dog training is filled with many different approaches to the same goals. You may have heard of some of these.. Clicker training, positive reinforcement, remote collar training, lure and reward, shaping, traditional leash and collar training. Some of these approaches may be more effective than others for your dog. Find a trainer who is open minded about your training needs and who is well educated on the different training tools available to you.
