FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Hourly is the complicated part of my services. If you want an hourly quote know what you want to do first, give me 5-6 adjectives that you want the design to represent and have a concise history of your business ready; that will make the process faster and smoother. Also be on top of your emails, if I send a proof and it takes too long to get back there is a good chance that it will take longer to finish just because of indecision and that will also raise your price. With hourly I require a non-refundable 1 hour's worth of pay (TBD at initial consultation) in advance and the rest prior to handing over the services. I keep an exceptionally detailed log of time spent working, and screenshots from start to finish to back it up so that there are no discrepancies in the time keeping. I don't round up the hour, I will divide the hourly rate down to per minute for the final price.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been doing fine art since I was a little girl, and when I was in middle school my art teacher coached me into winning a lot of awards, but it turnes out I was pretty good. From there it was always a set career path for me, I love it as well. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Start doing research about your business or yourself, it helps designers to know exactly how to go about the design process and it makes the whole processes a much smoother, faster experience. Also don't always go to the cheapest designer, you'l likely end up with a poorly designed product that is worth being proud of. Design for design's sake isn't design it's amateur.
