About
Meet Caleb – The Craftsman Behind Woodgrain Sunrise Hi, I’m Caleb, a seasoned woodworker with over 20 years of experience in residential and commercial woodworking. My journey began in Columbia, MO, where I honed my skills trimming houses. After a decade, I moved to Chicago, diving into bar and restaurant re-concepts and buildouts, where I developed a keen eye for creativity and functionality. From there, I co-founded a woodworking business in Nashville with Baxter Built, specializing in hospitality buildouts that brought unique spaces to life. In 2020, I returned to St. Louis to be closer to home and lay down roots with my two kids. Now, through Woodgrain Sunrise, I bring my expertise to both residential and commercial projects—whether it’s custom cabinetry, built-ins, or detailed trim work. Let’s create something exceptional together!

Caleb was great to work with. He was responsive, showed up on time, and did a solid job re mounting an upper kitchen cabinet that had pulled away from the wall. He explained the issue clearly, used proper anchors for the masonry wall, and made sure everything was secure and safe. Fair pricing, good communication, and sent photos once the job was completed. I’d definitely use him again and recommend him to anyone needing cabinet or carpentry work.

Details: Repair existing cabinets • 1 - 5 cabinets • Yes, I will need them removed • Yes, I will provide the cabinets • Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) • Kitchen • Home

I hired Caleb to recreate original 1940s built-in shelving that was inadvertently demo’d during our kitchen renovation. He worked in a tricky space with odd dimensions and a centered arch detail, using only a reference photo — and absolutely nailed it.

The new shelves look like they’ve always been part of the house. The proportions, trim work, and symmetry are perfect, and the attention to detail is outstanding.

This was real craftsmanship, not just installation. He solved problems thoughtfully, worked carefully, and was a pleasure to communicate with. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Details: Install or build new custom cabinets • 1 - 5 cabinets • Yes, I will need them removed • No, I will need the carpenter to provide the cabinets • Kitchen • Home

Caleb was amazing to work with. I had a strange project- I ordered an IKEA Pax closet system so I could change the drawer/shelf configuration anytime I wanted but I wanted a beautiful built in look to make it look custom and professional. Caleb listened to my ideas, figured out the project, and built everything in beautifully. You can tell he takes pride in his work and wanted to make it perfect for us.

He was prompt, kind, professional, easy communicator, and worked really hard. If we ever have another project I trust him to come back and take care of us.

After having trouble with many independent contractors in the past- our appreciation for Caleb is extremely high.

You can see the before during and after in my photos. We couldn’t be happier!

Details: Install or build new pre-made cabinets • 1 - 5 cabinets • No existing cabinets to remove • Yes, I will provide the cabinets • Dining / living room • Entryway • Home
