FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Not really complicated at all - we review a request and follow up with our client, listen to what they want, assist in the basic design work or determine the most suitable refinish process, let them edit and revise and then we figure in the time and cost of supplies and materials. Based on estimated hours and materials, we generate a quote. We try to keep the quote open for 60 days and expect 1/3 in advance. 1/3 at the halfway mark, then the final 1/3 at completion (unless a straight strip and refinish - then 1we require /2 in advance, 1/2 at completion).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will meet in person or review detailed photos to see the project or item and listen carefully to what the client seeks. Busy clients may prefer to send us pictures and an email describing what they need. We provide suggestions and describe how we will manage the project and what it will entail. We offer alternatives if time or expense is an issue on a project. We stay in touch with the client during the project, usually by sending updates and pictures of their item as we built or restore it. This keeps them in the loop and it allows us to communicate as to new ideas or resolving problems we may encounter.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We work with both modern and ancient tools and techniques. We tend to finish with modern finishes - catalysts and urethanes, but we can also apply much older finishes such as French finishes. We are always learning from our network of woodworkers and designers. Our refinishing expert was trained as an aircraft painter and utilizes the very latest in refinishing techniques.
