Rick is by far one of the best painters I've ever seen. What I loved about Rick is the fact that he payed attention to every detail,he's not one of those that take on more than one job at a time,he listens,he helps to the cost down, his work is priced reasonable,he's funny, and hands down handles his business like a true professional.I would highly recommend him for any of your interiors are exterior painting needs

They gave me a very good price on painting my double wide, they arrived when they said they would, the work they did was amazing, they we're very polite to my family and the craftsmanship of the painters was a high quality. They taped and covered everything to ensure paint did not get on the floors or any of the furniture.

Of all the times I needed contractor work done: roofing, tile work, plumbing, appliance repair, window installation, concrete, etc., Larry, by far, was the most customer service oriented I ever hired. Due to my work schedule I was not able to meet him face-to-face during the entirety of the project. I was set to meet him initially to do the estimate, but I had to leave before his arrival. While he was on his way, I let him know I left the key and to go in the back then call me up and I would let him know what needed to be done. That was all he needed. He would send me pics via smartphone text of the progress. He also called me at the end of the days he was at the house. NO OTHER CONTRACTORS DO THAT! NONE! At least none that I have hired. He would also offer to do other small projects he noticed while he was there. If I had the budget to do them, I would have had him do those too. He really seems to enjoy and take pride in the work he does. I had some moderate drywall work at a small rental property I was readying to put up for sale. Larry exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommended. Would hire again. Thanks, Larry!

This was the first time I used Thumbtack and also a first time for my painter. The app gave me the ability to receive multiple quotes and I took advantage of the opportunity when I scheduled 5 walk through bids in my home. I'll start by saying that my home is over 35 years old and I have high expectations. I wanted my walls to look like new construction. This was not going to be an easy job as it entailed floating all of the seams in my sheetrock, multiple layers of high build to give my walls a new smooth finish, new interior paint throughout, baseboards, crown molding, window sills, trim, cabinets, all new 6 panel interior doors, and a lot more. I also had a VERY tight deadline. 3 of the 5 painters that gave me a bid were one man shows and I didn't have the confidence that the job could be complete in time. I couldn't have made a better choice hiring Bobby. He is extremely easy to work with. His pride of workmanship shows. His painting crew and carpenters hold the same values. He was not the highest nor the lowest bid and I can honestly say the highest bid could not have completed this job to my expectations like Bobby did. If you are painting 1 room or an entire house, I highly recommend him. I will submit before and after pictures once I get decor back in place. I was considering putting my home on the market but everything looks like new construction so I may stay a while longer :)

Loved, loved, loved my paint job by Colors by Mike. They showed up on time and cleaned up after each day. They did what I requested and there were no surprise charges like some other contractors. The final outcome was beautiful. I would recommend colors by Mike to anyone that needs a reliable good painter.

We hired Rachel to paint our house as a side job. The house was a foreclosure we had just bought and had several holes in walls some over a square foot as well as several cracks in the ceiling. All these were repaired and I've personally tried to find them since and can't. We also removed chair rail in several rooms and that is also unnoticeable.

I love and enjoy what I do.i concentrate on specific details and driven to make customers happy with the work they need/want done.

Our company strives at doing neat and affordable paint jobs, Sheetrock repairs, textures, pressure washing, etc. We will not leave a job until you are happy with the work performed.

I work on home improvement, demolition, remodeling, cabinet finishing, deck and door restoration and pressure washing. No job's too small. A handyman can fix anything. I will beat anybody's prices.

We are a small business with big results. I do interior/exterior painting, drywall repair, trim carpentry and minor handyman projects.

I absolutely love my work! I take pride in each and every project I undertake. I have been invloved in some form of art for most of my life, but I started painting professionally almost 15 years ago. I do many outstanding original faux finishes, Venetian plaster, and other textured finishes. I will paint on any surface in a home or business-walls, ceilings, fireplaces, columns, crown molding, cabinets, and furniture. Murals are an excellent way to enhance a room and give it character. I love working on children's rooms and doing sports mural work. I can copy other artists work, such as Michelangelo's Creation, which I did for a clients ceiling, on oversized canvas. It was a great investment for my client since it can be removed and brought to another location. In addition to decorative painting, I sell my original oil paintings. I can do portraits of people and pets. I paint custom children's furniture. My rocking chairs and toy chests make excellent gifts. I am a skilled artist, and charge very reasonable rates, for the highest quality of work. E-mail me if you would like to discuss a project for your home or business.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

    • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
    • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
    • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
    • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
