This could not have been a better experience. Jaime responded very quickly to my inquiry, arrived on time to give an estimate and came tge folluwing day to install the fence. He was courteous and professional and did an excellent job. He worked carefully around a border of plants in front of the fence, cleaned up the area and even unloaded his tools/materials to add another section (completely due to me not being clear about what portion of the existing fence I wanted replaced). I highly recommend Jaime and his assistant!

I hired this service to clear out my very overgrown back yard, which is what happened to my "natural and rustic" yard after 12 trees were taken down for solar panels on my roof. Without all the tree roots, weeds that I refer to as "monkey grass" took over, reaching heights of almost 3 feet . I had also wanted to get the area seeded in lawn in an attempt to control the weeds. This service came in and got all the weeds mowed down in a good size back yard, along with my brick patio. It was explained to me that snce the weeds were so high and dense, any seeding would be smothered by what was just cut, and it would be prudent to let the cuttings die off over the winter and seed in the spring. I appreciated the honesty rather than making a futile attempt seeding a lawn which would not thrive. I plan to use this service in the spring to start a new lawn, which will thrive, and would not hesitate to recommend this service.

If I could give Santiago 10 stars, I would. He did a FABULOUS job installing a vinyl gate for my fence - and in addition, he was kind enough to help me with a few other small items that were driving me crazy! He did so with a smile and he did an excellent job - absolutely went above and beyond. I plan to hire him for my next (2) projects. Hire Santiago, you won't be sorry!

Eduardo installed Bermuda and a step stone patio on my property. Eduardo was professional and went above and beyond my expectations for the sod installation. I was very pleased with the attention he gave the sod after installation to ensure that it was growing properly. I have recommended Eduardo to two friends who are in the process of getting sod laid. I will also hire him for future services. -Tremauri E.

I hired Tapp'so to do some simple 10 yardsteps of mulch work and they also set and cut our garden timbers into the ground for us. They offered to repair and replace our 6' garden fence using wire and stakes and did a good job. Reasonably priced too. They are clean, experienced and detailed. I recommend them and will hire them back to finish our other landscaping projects too. Tray is very good at communicating.

We hired Don and his crew to put in a 4 foot high wooden fence. We have a tricky backyard with a fairly steep slope and lots of older trees. Although this added a day or two to the project, the fence turned out fantastic! Couldn't be happier.

Chris was very good to work with on my son's fence project. He was only fence contractor willing to salvage existing fence and take on a smaller job. Let's you purchase your material from Lowe's and gets you a discount on materials. Fence looks really good and eventually will have him replace the rest. Enjoyed working with him very much.

Darian Campbell, and his son, Harley, produced exceptional work. My condo patio was such an eyesore with a crumbling cement pad and the surrounding area being only a weed-producing aggravation. I rarely would open my vertical blinds, much less actually use the patio. Darian and his son completely removed the damaged cement pad and excavated the surrounding area. Once a new (and slightly larger as I requested) pad was poured and leveled expertly, they placed a weed resisting mesh and covered that area with mulch. They actually went above and beyond by removing debris left by another individual who had repaired my fence and removed holly bushes months prior. Darian was courteous and professional as well as very reasonable. If I saw a ‘before’ and ‘after’ post online, my reaction would be, “wow!’ Needless to say, I will thoroughly enjoy the use of my new patio. I would highly recommend Confident Home Solutions. Thank you, Darian and Harley!

Florentino and his team were extremely responsive to my queries and through the process on ordering and installing my fence. They were accommodating in making changes where I wanted and were always on time for all Interactions that we setup. They also did a fantastic job during the install process and cleaned up the mess and extra dirt that came out of the ground before they left. My backyard looks great. Would highly recommend them.

We had a wonderful experience with Top Notch Fence. From the initial estimate to the install, the team was very courteous and professional and did a great job with the fence installation. The owner was very nice and responsive to all questions I had and the company in general kept us very informed each step of the process. Living in an HOA neighborhood, Top Notch Fence worked with us to meet our neighborhood requirements without any problems. We couldn't be happier with our fence and have loved using it (as have our dogs)! We would definitely recommend and/or use them for future projects.

Marc did a great job with my fence. I had a 6 foot privacy fence installed with a lot of intricate detail work involved. Marc built everything as I requested and even went back to change some things I changed my mind on. Worked through two days of rain, and showed up each time he said he would. Great price, about half of another quote I received from a local fence company, and great job on the fence. Highly recommend Meadows Contracting for fence installation.

Jerry installed a cedar, shadow box fence at our house, and he built it exactly to order. The fence is beautiful, and the expense was very reasonable! Jerry did an excellent job cleaning up and making sure my property was clean and neat upon completion. I was very pleased with the whole experience.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

    • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
    • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
    • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
    • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
    • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
    • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
    • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
    • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
    • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
    • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
    • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.
