Hello! My name is Jannah. I recently graduated from Leesville Road High School with honors, a 1510 SAT score, a 35 ACT score, and 10 AP credits toward my college courses ranging from Calculus 1 and 2 to English Literature. I currently attend and am a member of the Accelerated Research Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I study biomedical engineering in the joint BME program with North Carolina State University, with future plans for medical school.
Over the course of my high school experience and transition to college, as well attending UNC, I have developed and sharpened my writing skills, including essay writing for both academic purposes and for college admission. My writing skills have allowed me to win several essay contests including through The Rotary Club, United States Tennis Association, and a scholarship through the Zakat Foundation.
I also built a thorough understanding of math, which I have continued through my study of engineering and have 3 years’ worth of tutoring experience through Leesville’s National Honors Society, service club, employment at Mathnasium, and independent one-on-one tutoring. My expertise in math content and coursework and teaching experience ranges from basic elementary mathematics to SAT prep, including (but not limited to) middle and high school level algebra and geometry.
My high school activities included varsity tennis and lacrosse, two internships, National Honors society, president and founder of several clubs, 3 leadership roles in the school newspaper, class vice president, and after-school jobs. These activities built my well-roundedness, discipline, and time management skills, as well as added structure to my schedule. My experiences will allow me to connect with students and offer holistic academic coaching that is personalized to optimize your child’s passions, talents, skills, mental health, time, and resume. I believe balance is imperative to students’ success, and will help your child to attain balance that is best suited to their needs.
Whether it is math tutoring, English writing and revision, academic coaching, college essay writing, SAT/ACT prep, or a combination, I am here to support you and your child. I am dedicated to understanding each student beyond the academic setting and establish a healthy, guiding relationship to ensure that I can help them to be the most successful version of themselves. My age and personality allow me to connect well with all students and offer a wide range of support that is centered around current and up-to-date learning methods, college admission standards, AP grading rubrics, math curriculums, and more. I look forward to working with your child!
