I wish there were 10 stars for Tina! I am so happy I chose her from all the professionals referred to us. We hired Tina for 12 days for dog walking only as my 82 year old mother was actually house sitting. When we left, we had no idea a winter storm was on the way. Tina went above and beyond - she actually stayed 4 days with my mom so that she did not have twalk him in the snow and continued to take excellent care of him as if he were one of her own. What a blessing she was to us. If anyone is in need of this service, do not hesitate to hire this dependable, thoughtful, and capable lady. She is one of a kind!

Karen was very quick to respond, and a very gracious woman to work with. Her employees are a direct reflection of her and her company. They cleaned my house better than any company or person had ever done in the past, and in record time AND we own 2 large dogs. 😳 I have already booked them again and can’t wait to continue this new relationship which will make my life easier and cleaner! Thx so much Karen and company!!🤗

Drew has walked my dog for almost a year now, and he has been the perfect hire. I cannot offer enough compliments to fully capture his character; he's good natured, prompt, trustworthy, flexible, and best of all, my dog loves him. If I were in the market for a dog walker again, he would be my first pick.

We've had great experiences with Happy Tailz! Very trustworthy, caring and professional which gives me the peace of mind when traveling. I have a 6 year old Labradoodle who gets anxiety when left alone or at a kennel. I can tell she is well taken care of by Melody because I come home to a happy and health dog. I would highly recommend Happy Tailz to anyone looking for a pet sitter and/or dog walker.

We were so pleased with how things went when we left our dogs in Laura's care! I appreciated how she visited beforehand to meet them, and how she took detailed notes on everything. One of our dogs tends to be very anxious and I could tell that he felt totally comfortable and safe while in Laura's care. She really is a compassionate professional who listens - I highly recommend her services!

Knowing I was going to need someone to take care of my five dogs and cat after eye surgery, I needed someone I could completely rely on. Libby was available whenever I needed her. She came over and took my dogs outside a few times each day even though I was home. I was unable to bend over or lift anything over 15 lbs. She took them in the yard, ran them around, fed them, got them water and lots of petting. Two have special needs with their eyes (runs in the family) and she made sure they were clean and medicated. Not sure what I would have done without I could count on. My dogs were relaxed and slept with me most of the time, they were content even though Mommy couldn't take care of them. Thanks Libby, you really went above and beyond for me. It is great knowing you have someone you can count on for your furbabies.

Nothing could have been done better. I have many cats & a yorkie dog and some of my pets needed medication. It is like taking care of a small shelter and often difficult for me. Every single task was done excellent. I could tell from the "meet & greet" they would be "the one" to take care of my many pets from the questions they asked and the way they asked them. I loved that I was kept informed how things were going by text while I was gone. The lady that took care of my pets went beyond in her care of them and also in being so extra considerate for things to be neat for my return. I thought anyone would be overwhelmed from the care of so many pets with so many different needs because I often am myself. I am forever grateful for the wonderful care and I will certainly be using them exclusively.

Amy is absolutely one of the nicest people I have ever met. We stayed in Charlotte Friday, Saturday and Sunday and had her set up to watch our puppy on Sunday during the day. He did not take well to being in a hotel room and Amy offered to watch our dog the entire weekend and for a very reasonable price. We ended up only doing Sunday and knew our dog was going to be safe and taken care of the moment we pulled up. She has a beautiful, well kept house in a gorgeous neighborhood. I cannot recommend Sky's the Limit enough and we will definitely continue to take our dog to her anytime we are in the Charlotte area.

Liz and Merritt have been wonderful for helping my dogs to get along. Since working with CCT I have been able to not only prevent a lot of issues by meeting eachs dog's needs better, but also by learning to tell when they are unhappy and preventing a fight before it starts. I was really afraid that I would have to give one of my dogs back to a rescue before Liz came over. Now not only do my dogs get along by they are very tolerant with my toddler too! CCT really helped them to adjust to having a little one in the house, and I just can't thank them enough for everything they did to help my 4-legged children!

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Bark Avenue and Mike. We received an immediate response when our dog walker cancelled on us at the last minute. Communication throughout the initial process was clear, we received regular updates/pictures/etc. throughout the entire time we were gone, and prices are very competitive for the quality of service being provided. Bark Avenue is the only dog walker we’ll use for our pets moving forward.

What can I say about Andrea the Pet Nanny except that she is amazing! She came to my rescue when I had knee surgery last year. I had no idea of how I would be able to take care of my pooches when I could barely take care of myself. Andrea took all that stress away from me by walking my dogs so I wouldn’t have to. It was so comforting for me to be able to have my dogs at home with me instead of boarding them during my recovery. I have used her services numerous times since then Why should you hire the Pet Nanny? Andrea is dependable, trustworthy, hardworking, kind, compassionate and she takes her responsibilities seriously. She does it all with a very sweet smile and upbeat personality. She loves what she does and it shows! You can reach her by phone at (704) 997-9635 or check out her website http://www.thepetnanny-lkn.com/ or her Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/thepetnannylkn/.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.

We are keeping my son's lab mix (she's a smaller female) and we both work so that it is very hard to get home at lunch. She is crated and needs a mid-day break and some exercise. She is very sweet and loving. We live in River Falls subdivision in Duncan so a very good neighborhood for walking. We may also be keeping her for the entire spring semester so could be long-term need.
