Daniel and his staff are professional, communicating with me before, during and after the sevice. My bathroom tile has never been cleaner and they even cleaned the refrigerator! The hardwood floors were shiny and the whole house smelled great. Zero complaints. A++

The ladies that came to clean were absolutely amazing and did same-day service. I had gotten home from being gone several days to a train-wreck of dead bugs all over my kitchen. I had set off a bug bomb after seeing this to get the rest of the pests, but I really did not want to have to be the one to clean them up and to scrub down the kitchen to make sure counters and such were safe again for food preparation. I warned in my post of this and that I really wanted someone who wouldn't mind scrubbing down the place and bleaching/disinfecting the kitchen and vacuuming the other rooms. Yolanda did an amazing job and was very thorough. They moved the furniture to make sure that everything was cleaned, including behind the fridge and washer and dryer. If you want people that are friendly and will do an honest amazing job, this is the person/team to hire.

We recently had our first cleaning experience with Spotless Creations. This was our first home cleaning experience so we have nothing to compare it too, but we were very pleased. The professional who came to clean was efficient, courteous and cleaned our home top to bottom very nicely. Our glass and tile shower looked amazing. There were a few areas that weren't cleaned but it was due to us having fragile items in the way. They seem to have a policy to not disturb items that could be easily broken and will work around them. I think that is great. They are very affordable and also seem very flexible in their offerings. The gentleman I've dealt with on the phone has been nothing but fantastic. We look forward to dealing with them again on a regular basis.

Reversible Renovations built a wheelchair accessible bathroom and remodeled an adjacent room to make a bedroom for my husband, who has a traumatic brain injury and uses a wheelchair. Richard worked closely with my husband's physiotherapists to design the project. Richard also provided a very detailed quote for the job. Heather, the designer, worked closely with me to choose the tile, fixtures, cabinetry etc. A custom sink was designed to accommodate the wheelchair but it also looks beautiful. A terriffic site manager did a lot of the carpentry and coordinated the other trades workers. The quality of the work was top notch, the project came in slightly below the estimate, and was done before expected. An added plus was the way each of the workers cleaned up after themselves and took pride in quality work. They were willing to make changes as they worked on the project to accommodate issues that came up, like an existing doorway that was too narrow. I can't wait to have them back to redesign my kitchen to accommodate to my husband's needs once he reaches his highest recovery point.

Master bathroom floor and shower. Mr. Sprague introduced me to a self-leveling product which turned out to be a lifesaver for the floor tile. He was very tedious about everything I was concerned about and worked very hard to make sure it all looked pristine!

We became acquainted with Lee Tripi when he designed a master bath in our commercial construction condo. Because drains couldn't be moved and space was limited, we needed a professional who had experience in navigating the specific requirements associated with our space. Lee's concept for a clean, contemporary, Asian style bath with open walk-in shower completely surpassed any ideas we could have imagined. We were so taken with the Zen spa feeling of our bathroom that we invited him to keep going... We now have bamboo floors, new cool grey paint on the walls and a fireplace that brings together an old barn beam with a large tiles that create a niche over the mantel. We think of Lee as one who listens deeply to who we are and what we like, and then shows us a picture of our best selves.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

        • Old standard or electric toothbrush
        • Stiff bristle brush
        • Spray bottle
        • White vinegar
        • Commercial grout cleaner

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.
