I am formally trained from Johnson and Wales University. Ive been in the food industry for 15 years and am currently a pastry instructor at a culinary school. I use high quality ingredients and do highly detailed work to make your event that much more delicious and spectacular. I do specialized cakes for the person down to the smallest detail to make the cake one of a kind. I also have a cake safe that I use so your large wedding cake arrives safely to the event. At every wedding there is dessert of some type. I can make whatever you would like whether it be a cake, pie, cake in a jar wedding favors or any other dessert. My favorite part is that I don't just make any old cake, I make your cake. It is the cake that will be in your wedding pictures for the rest of your life and a highlight of your special day. Dessert warms the soul and can brighten anyone's day.

We used Capital Cakes for our wedding and the end result was stunning! During our consultation I knew exactly what I was looking for and Katelyn even helped to finish my thoughts and ideas to deliver an absolutely amazing cake. The flavor was amazing as well and we received so many compliments on the quality of her work. I would definitely use Capital Cakes again for any of our cake needs.

Cupcake Confections baked three wedding cakes for our three children's weddings. Each cake was beautifully decorated and individualized reflecting some aspect of each bride and grooms lives. All three cakes were delivered to the reception venues on time, in perfect condition, and displayed beautifully.Needless to say, all three wedding cakes were delicious. The only problem occurred at the first wedding where the cake was totally consumed by the guests (returning for seconds and thirds) before the parents of the bride were able to enjoy a portion. We were only able to obtain a rather small sampling from the pillars supporting the various layers! The original cake was more than adequate. It was just that it was so good that the guests continued to return for more! We have also have had the pleasure of enjoying some of Kate's confections as well as her various "cakes-in-a-jar" which are absolutely delicious. The only regret/remorse that we have is distance between our home and her bakery. We live 6 hours apart.

What can I say Katelyn took my order 3 days before my wedding after another person had dropped me last minute. She did a wonderful job after already being booked to max she didnt let me go without a cake on my wedding day. Book her!!

Kate has made several cakes for me over the years. They are always perfectly executed...from birthday cakes, to graduation cakes, to cakes in a jar and candies. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
All my prices for basic buttercream cakes and simple buttercream decorations is $4 per person. Covering in fondant is additional and more detailed decorations cost additional. I add the price for extra decorations and fondant to the total, not to the per person price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I have them come for a consultation so we can talk about services and go over your dream dessert.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a teacher at a career college for pastry and am always researching new trends and techniques online. I have an Associates in Baking and Pastry Arts, an Associates in Culinary Arts, and a Bachelor's in Food Service Management. I have worked at other jobs as well over the years including cake bakeries, chocolate shops, and a Pastry Chef at one of the US top 100 restaurants.
