Duct and Vent Repair

Irene Blake says, "Updated my review, the company reimbursed me, after I complained they couldn't find the problem.Thank you!Very terrible experience with this company. First, when I set up the appointment, I asked if they repair chemney tops, they said yes. They charge for inspection. When two guys showed up, we told them what was going on with the fireplace that smoke was coming into the house. the only thing they saw was that the grates was upside down. We have a prefab fireplace and I knew there was an outside air vent and I could not find it and they couldn't find it either, they did a smoke test, smoke went up and then came right back down into the house as I explained when making the appointment. I then explained the water damage on the chimney on the roof and was wondering if that would be causing our issue, we previously fixed the water damage, however they went and looked at the chimney and said nothing was wrong. I then asked if they replace chimney tops and they said no. I then asked if they were going to charge me if they found nothing wrong other than an upside-down grate and they said yes. however they did reduce the inspection fee some. So I basically paid to have them look at a chimney and fireplace and agree that smoke goes up and comes right back down without finding the problem. The next day, one of the other chimney cleaners that I had called returned my call and was able to fix my problem over the phone and by pictures he asked me to send him ,he knew where the fresh air vent inside the fireplace and by looking at the chimney by photos, he knew exactly that the chimney top needed to be replaced. Carolina Dustmasters, did not indicate that mt chemney tops needed to be repaired, why the smoke was coming back down.I called the office twice to ask to speak with the manager , once by the person who answered the phone, the second by voice mail. Never got a manager to call me back. I finally emailed them, still no response. The fact that they do not repaired chemney tops or know their fireplace schematics, the importance of a fresh air duct. A chemney tops that was too small for smoke to escape. And yet charged me for service fee. When a experience fire chemney man was able to solve the problem over the phone, by telling me where my fresh air vent was in my fireplace and replace my chemney tops. Didn't charge me to come out to measure."See more
