Mr. Cole blindly quoted $130 via phone for the cleaning service, which was to include basic cleaning (mopping, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, etc.) in my parent's kitchen, sitting room, den and living room. My parents are elderly and have a lot of items in their home. A lot of knickknacks and furniture are crammed in their house where they have lived for the last 40 years. I felt it would be best for the Cole's to view their house so we could confirm the quote. Mrs. Cole came over to meet with my mother the next day and never said the quote was different from what Mr. Cole stated the night before. Both Mr. and Mrs. Cole came the very next day to do the cleaning. Their service was mediocre at best. I visited with my parents less than 30 minutes after the Cole's left their house and I was disappointed to see they dusted around items, not picking anything up or moving items. They did not wipe down the ceiling fans, tables or clean the mirrors. They did not vacuum under tables or under throw rugs. They did not organize anything, although, the day prior it was said that they specialize in organization. Mr. Cole was very proud of the service that they provided to my mother and sent me a text message after they finished to say my mother was satisfied, would like them to come regularly and asked me to leave a review on thumbtack. What infuriated me is when my mother told me Mrs. Cole charged her $300. They did not clean any of the bathrooms or the bedrooms. They did sweep out the garage. However, their subpar cleaning in those few rooms was definitely not worth $300. My mother previously owned a commercial cleaning business (licensed and bonded) and she said if they were my employees, I would have made them redo the work and I would have shown them all the things they missed the first time around. Had they done $300 worth of cleaning and communicated that to my mother prior to the service, this would be a 5 star review. I called Mr. Cole after speaking with my mother to let him know it was bad business to upcharge my parents without notifying them prior to doing the cleaning. He said he thought his wife had confirmed the quote and I told him she did not tell my mother the price was going to be different. He proceeded to tell me he organized their cluttered home. I let him know we would not be using them again and I will definitely be using the link he sent to leave a negative review on thumbtack. He and his wife continued to call and text me and my mother multiple times. At least 5 calls from Mr. Cole and 5 calls from Mrs. Cole to my mother. They did not stop until I sent a text to Mr. Cole saying you do not need to keep calling my mother. I was excited to support their business and hopeful that this would be the first of many times they would clean my parent's home. When I initially spoke with Mr. Cole, I was impressed that he was a veteran and he came across as having strong family values. I am always eager to support businesses owned by people of color and I make it a point to patronize small businesses. Unfortunately, we made a mistake selecting Cole's Cleaning Service. The Cole's need to start talking to each other and make sure that they confirm quotes with their customers prior to service. If they do something additional for their customers they need to communicate if there will be an additional charge. I want to believe that the Cole's did not intentionally take advantage of my disabled, elderly parents. However, they showed us their bad business practices by not communicating with the customer or each other. Lastly, it is my personal opinion that they are just not good at cleaning to the level you would expect from a legitimate cleaning business and that is why I would recommend you avoid utilizing their services.
