Due to Charise's schedule it was difficult to get an appointment with her. Once, Charise heard through her assistant that I was trying to get an appointment Charise went the extra mile to schedule a consultation with me and offered to make paying our employees seamless. That extra personal care and attention makes running my business easier.

Mr. Franek provided me with the exact tax preparation service for which I was looking: affordable, fast, and convenient. He and his assistant, Mr. Cole, were very quick to respond to my request on Thumbtack. I really appreciated how flexible Mr. Franek was with his schedule; I also appreciated Mr. Cole's follow-up with me as we had a lot of back-and-forth about scheduling and servicing. Overall, I had a very positive experience and found Mr. Franek's tax preparation of my 2013 tax return exceeded my expectations. His turn around time was impressive and way faster than I had imagined it could be! I look forward to working with Mr. Cole and Mr. Franek again.

Not only have I used the tax services, but also received assistance with QuickBooks and non-profit start up. I would recommend W Tax & Business Consulting to anyone looking to find a company that cares about your business and tax needs.

I have worked with McCordial & Company for several years now to complete the taxes for my multi-state S-chapter corporation. These filings are a beast, and McCordial & Company does a great job working with my cloud-based accounting software, finishing documents on-time and on-budget (unlike some other CPA firms I've worked with!!). McCordial & Company also provides some fabulous business, finance, and operations advice. They've seen it all and lived to tell the tale, so I always trust M&Co's opinions and council.

      About

Preparing your own income tax return can be a task that leaves you with more questions than answers. According to a study released by the US Government's General Accounting Office, most taxpayers (77% of 71 million taxpayers) believe they benefited from using a professional tax preparer. Whether we like it or not, today's tax laws are so complicated that filing a relatively simple return can be confusing. It is just too easy to overlook deductions and credits to which you are entitled. Even if you use a computer software program, there's no substitute for the assistance of an experienced tax professional. Here's what you get: - Your tax return will be checked and rechecked by our computer software identifying potential problems the IRS may look at more closely and reviewing the math to limit IRS contacts. - Your tax return can be filed electronically so you will get a refund back quicker. - Our staff will show you how to adjust your payroll withholding to get more money back each week. Why give the IRS an interest free loan for up to 16 months. - We will show you potential deductions to limit your tax liability for next year. In addition, we will give you a sheet of commonly overlooked deductions to limit the following year's tax liability. Are books a mess? That is not a problem! If you own a small business and haven't kept up your bookkeeping, don't worry. We can help you. We'll prepare your bookkeeping for the year, prepare a full Schedule C, as well as your personal income tax return. Then, we'll help you set up an easy system that allows you to keep your books in tip-top shape next year.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Who can file my taxes?

Any individual with a preparer tax identification number (PTIN) is eligible to file your income taxes on your behalf. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean they will be the best candidate to provide the help you need with your income tax preparation. The IRS explains that CPAs, attorneys and enrolled agents are all allowed to legally represent their clients before the IRS. They have a more thorough understanding of tax code than an individual operating solely with a PTIN or an Annual Filing Season Program participant who provides their services on a volunteer basis. Consider the complexity of your tax return and what level of expertise you’ll require. Before entrusting someone with your private financial and personal information, do some research on their qualifications. The IRS has a searchable database where you can verify the background and credentials of your income tax preparation professional. Once you have selected someone, ask about their service fees and confirm their availability. Then provide them with all the documentation they require, including W-2s, 1099s and more. Always ask to review the paperwork before it is submitted, and never sign a blank tax return.

How much does it cost to get taxes done?

Hiring a professional to help with income tax preparation can be priceless. Pro help can mean no mistakes and a maximized tax return. The cost to get your income taxes done depends on the professional you hire. Tax attorneys or in-demand CPAs will often have the highest rates for their services. Next in the pricing tier are enrolled agents, who will usually have higher rates than individuals solely working with a preparer tax identification number (PTIN). Nationally, the average cost of income tax preparation ranges from $150 to $190. Income tax preparation prices can also vary based on where you live and the complexity of your tax returns. Here are some examples of average income tax preparation prices from an enrolled agent:

      • Taxpayers filing only a W-2 tax form: $50.
      • Taxpayers filing a W-2 along with additional tax forms such 1099-INT and 1098-E: $150.
      • Taxpayers with several tax forms and one or two additional considerations such as a rental property, investment transactions, K-1 income, 1099-MISC or a simple small business: $225.
      • Taxpayers with multiple activities (rentals, K-1 income, small business, etc.), several stock transactions and more: $395.

Nationally, the average hourly rate nationally for a tax prep professional ranges between $150 and $450.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
