FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
People don't realize the cost involved in being a dj , music and all the equipment is an investment , some of them think that you can purchase this stuff cheap, i have three lights that cost me over a $1000.00 not counting over $11,000.00 in music , then all the equipment add up another $35,000.00 then another $1000.00 for cords, and it doesn't take long to tie up $20,000.00 just to be able to do a gig , then you have to take in consideration of mileage ,, wear and tear on your vehicle , and equipment also a trailer to keep everything in plus insurance , also keep in mind you have to be concerned about someone dropping a beverage in your equipment . i could go on and on , so pricing is something you have to keep in mind but also you have to be in line with what someone else may charge that doesn't have the investment you have , you have to stay in line with pricing but not overprice your gig. I normally price my gigs according to distance , time , and the amount of equipment I have to use .
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I wish for all my customers to feel at ease with me I want to be honest and fair in myself and also in my pricing , I do not like a customer that is upset because of pricing , I want them to be able to give me great references to other potential customers .I like feedback from my customers , if they decide not to utilize my service I would like to know why , If I do not hear from my clients I have no idea what is going on , please email me and let me know > The biggest turnoff about customers is going purchasing leads , I spend on the average of over $450.00 per month trying to get new business , sending emails to customers and trying to get a reply back from them , when they don't reply back to messages it is so rude , the very least they could do is send a message back .
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm constantly searching for new music, i do not have any music that i have not purchased , there are a lot of dj's that have not made the investment i have made in music, i purchase 90% of my music from Itunes and presently have over$11,00.00 just in music that i have purchased .i stay up on the lasted equipment and try to upgrade as soon as i can whether it be lighting or equipment , i read other dj's material over the internet to get ideas, about new equipment , and if it works then i purchase it to use in my dj gigs. I have been in the music business over 25 years , I subscribe to digital dj tips , attend dj seminars when I can and also watch others dj at their gigs to see if there is anything I can use from them that would be beneficial to my dj business.
