Greg Commander came to speak at a summer program for at-risk youth interested in going to college. He was very motivational and related well to the group. By proving to others that overcoming obstacles is possible, these young students were even more excited to apply to college. The state no longer funds such programs or we would have him back every year!

I am the Founder and Director of the Lighthouse Project which has for the last 20 years brought speakers into the Guilford County public schools and private schools who talk about character, making wise decisions and servant leadership. Greg came to speak to students at Hope Academy. From his first sentence, he had their undivided attention. Greg's story resonates with students and he clearly articulates how bad decisions effect your life and future. His story is compelling and he tells it in a way that comes from a heart that wants to spare others from following the path of his early years. I would highly recommend him for any event in which you need a living example of the ability to overcome obstacles and lead a life of redemption. He is one of the best speakers we've ever had.

I had Mr. Commander come speak to the students at Shelby High School about involving themselves in high-risk social behaviors, particularly gang and drug involvement. His message and energy were both relentless and authentic. The students and everyone else in attendance could feel it and it was well received. I had several students moaning about having to hear him but their tune was quite different afterwards. We held a Q&A afterwards and there was a wave of students that were eager to speak to him 1 on 1. He came highly recommended and definitely exceeded the expectations.

I am currently enrolled in Laurel University and I attend and interact with various school systems in North Carolina.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was given a second chance in life by being incarcerated. Even though I spent over 18 years in prison, if changed my life. I was saved, received my GED and my entire life was inspired by the knowledge I obtained while incarcerated. In addition, Paul Lessard, President and Founder of Community Foundation, High Point, NC, assured me that I had the ability to further my education and become one of the most powerful Motivational Speaker throughout the U.S..
