Hello everyone,My name is Carrie Barton. Im 63 years old and have two intact male Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mixes who both turn two in June. Last year, my family and I made the move from California to North Carolina, and it was incredibly stressful, especially because my dogs were acting out every chance they got.We searched everywhere for dog trainers, but we were hesitant because we needed someone experienced enough to handle littermate syndrome and high anxiety. Thats when we found Next-Door K9 Solutions. From there, we got in touch with a trainer named Heather, and she has been absolutely fantastic. She was very communicative, answered every question we had, and made sure we felt supported throughout the process. Even after the initial training period ended, she continued checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. I truly couldnt be happier with her work. One important thing to understand is that you have to stay consistent with your dogs training. Heather gave me the tools, instruction, and knowledge I needed to build a better relationship with my dogs, but it was up to me to continue putting in the work. Now, nearly a year after their initial training, I can easily separate them and keep them independent. I can walk them without being pulled, walk them off-leash, recall them reliably, and give them various commands with confidence.I highly recommend Next-Door K9 Solutions. Heather is an absolute all-star!

Really helped me learn to control my dog on walks. Now it's a pleasure to go out with her and not a battle.Really knowledgeable trainers that "trained" me on how to act with her.

We are so happy with Aspen's Board and Train program. I wish I had done it sooner. She has more confidence and is great on walks. The best thing is off lease hiking. She is still her normal silly self she just listens now.

We love seeing Aspen live her best on and off leash life now! A good girl who can do both!! She really has come so far!

Heather had been so wonderful to work with. Fluffy had prior training in another state, but she and I needed some extra skills to walk well in a fully walking community. I loved that the principles Heather used aligned to what we knew.Heather worked with the high-energy nature of my mini-bernadoodle. She even answered my questions between sessions.I can now enjoy hands-free leash walking, backpack walking, bark-free front porch time, and able to bathe and groom Fluffy!!!I also love that she had provided other enrichment opportunities.Heather is GREAT!

I have enjoyed working with you and Fluffy so much! She is so eager to learn and train! I cannot wait to see what else you and fluffy accomplish!
Fluffy proves that small dogs love training as well!

Delilah is my first rescue with pit in her. She's also got Belgian malinoise in her. She is super headstrong and smart. She has her own mental Rolodex (that's a rolling file of information.) In my county, it's more likely that she'd be adopted to use as a bait dog for dog fights. Delilah is super skittish and trainable, but I needed more support. My brother bought me a puppy boot camp package for Christmas. D doesn't like men, he was worried about her and of course, wanted her to like him. Autumn was our trainer, and I learned so much! Delilah had her basics, sit, hulk smash the floor (lie down), come, come, wait and hulk smash hands (shake, paw, high five.) She strengthened, leave it, taught her to place and wait in place and taught her not to pull on leash. I learned that Delilah needed more boundaries and directions. I always thought I was strict, especially as a teacher, but Autumn helped me see things from a different POV. Dogs have different rules. I needed to understand her rules to understand her behaviors. I cried when we got home the night I picked her up. She'd never sat on a couch with me, just lounging. She's never waited for doors to open before ploughing through. She enjoys games and puzzles more. It's up to me to keep up with the training, and I really want to do the pack walk. My stubborn, smart, disobedient, loving little pittie mix has learned more manners and listens so much better! Love isn't enough. Training makes my Delilah happy to work and shaves off so much anxiety for me. We walk together now. Peacefully. Engaged. Empowered.
