Noel did a great job installing porcelain/ceramic tile in the kitchen. He always kept us updated and since we needed a quick turnaround, he was available and the install only too a couple of days. We definitely will use his service again for a future home project!

We had a bathtub removed and a walk-in shower installed, as well as new ceramic tile put down. They started within days of giving us an estimate and were finished in 4 days. Everyone was very nice and did a great job. We love our new bathroom!

I hired Bob to put up a tile backsplash in my kitchen and he did a great job! He provided an estimate which was what he charged (so no surprises) and arrived on time and got the job done quickly. I would highly recommend and we would definitely use him again.

John and his crew installed wood flooring throughout the house and ceramic tile in the baths and laundry. They did an excellent job, arrived when they said they would and the cleanup after was most impressive. I would highly recommend them. Great job guys.

Powder Room floor replaced. Jonathan and I met to pick out and purchase the tile and materials needed. He and his crew arrived when he promised and did a professional job. He even fixed a small issue with lighting outside my garage door at no additional charge. Jonathan is easy to work with and genuinely wants to make sure his customer is satisfied.

Bruce did an incredible job! I needed a new exterior door as the current one had rotted in the bottom. Bruce came out quickly and gave me a couple of options on how to replace my door. He ordered the door and had it directly shipped to my house. He was able to start a couple of days later. He was meticulous with his work. He made sure the door fit the new tile we had placed in our kitchen (had to raise the door a bit). Everything looks incredible at an extremely competitive price. Look forward to using him in the future!

These guys are amazing. Very respectful of my home while I was at work. Left them alone for 3 or 4 days and my floors are amazing. They had to remove ceramic tiles that had been in the home for at least 20 years. That in itself was not an easy task. They had to come back to work on a small area, without question. I would recommend them if you want your floors redone or new one installed.

Gregg did an AMAZING job painting my entire 5 bedroom home. He also painted our 20 foot foyer/entryway, kitchen, dining room and living room. He was fast, precise, honest, very detailed, and extremely careful with our brand new hardwood floors. He also did a great job prepping and plugging all the old holes from pictures that were hung. We can't even tell where the holes used to be. I will definitely be calling him back when we are ready to tile our fireplace.

Anthony made my shower design come to life. He completed the cement board installation as well as waterproofing before the tile work began. His tile layout in the shower was great and I am very pleased with his quality of work. He was not the cheapest quote I had but like most things you get what you pay for.

I would say go for this gentleman ! I submitted my proposal at Thumbtack. Received several quotes. I really don't know how I picked this fellow. He arrived on time, gave me an impressive estimates, and started working on it. The home was badly damaged due to pipe bursting, and no one knew where the leak was located. However, the gentleman took care of it. The best thing I like about him is that he doesn't talk unnecessarily which many plumbers do. He also doesn't have a story to tell that I've been doing this job for 20 years plus. He is a cool guy, keeps focus on works ! The best part of hiring him for my home is that he has told me that he'll come back and take care of the job for free if the problem occurs again ! I've some flooring and drywall works waiting for him to complete. Try hiring him once !!

I can highly recommend Astonishing Fooring. They were professional and prompt. Jennssey and his crew were top notch from the moment I requested an estimate. Also, they gave a quick response time to answer all of my questions. They are very reasonable with price. Astonishing Flooring did an amazing job tiling and grouting a bathroom and also with the clean up afterwards. I love how they completed the project from start to finish in just one day. Astonishing Flooring has high quality tiling sevices that I can highly recommend.

Bryan did a beautiful job moving the bathtub and completing my shower tile where another contractor had left me in the lurch with shoddy work. Bryan also discovered and repaired a badly leaking drain that several others had missed. He even worked through the weekend because he knew I had been without a useable shower for quite some time. Thanks Bryan!

We looked at countertops what seemed liked forever and had decided to contract with one of the big box home improvement stores before being directed to Fireplace and Granite by my Daughter-in-Law. I was amazed at the selection and the price. We Now have beautiful Granite kitchen counters with Ceramic tile backsplash. Before you buy someplace else, you need to check here. I highly recommend them and would use them again.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

      • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
        • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
