A wonderful experience with this company and will be keeping them on for continued work on my gardens. John and his wife are very knowledgeable about landscaping and gardens in particular - hard workers and am looking forward to them coming back in May for the next round of improvements!

Kevin McKoy is OUTSTANDING. He is fair and honest. His forte is lawn care, however, he has a wide resource of networks to extend his services for his customers. I initially contacted McKoy's Lawn Care & Maintenance to give a quote on a fence/gate project. The fence/gate projected expanded to front lawn repair, french drain and flower bed installation. Then he did a full back yard makeover: rock path, lawn, tree & plant installation, flower bed preparation, connecting gutter pipes to drain properly, and large flower/garden beds. In addition, when there was a slight tweak (correction), he was accommodating and ensured that the fix was completed satisfactorily. I would recommend Kevin McKoy.

I used Gene last year to begin landscaping my front yard in my new home. He did a great job and I am having him complete the front garden bed this week. I would highly recommend him for any landscaping needs.

D&C Custom Cleaning provided the best home cleaning service I have ever used. They were professional, friendly and organized, bringing all their own equipment and supplies. Meeting with them ahead of time to discuss the project was very helpful and they discussed several options for my needs that I hadn't considered. I'm not sure if my favorite results are the clean windows and sills or the hardwood floors and baseboards being dust and grime free! Their prices are VERY competitive and I would not hesitate to call them again.

He really did a great job and was able to do the work soon after quoting. Rob was friendly, knowledgeable, and communicated very well. The only reason I gave a 4/5 is the price. First let me say that my backyard was a mess. I have poison ivy, vines, overgrown trees and much more. However, it’s only a small portion of my back yard and I was quoted $775. That’s about $90/hour for the amount of time he was there. I’m by no means trying to discourage anyone from using Rob, he did a great job, but $90/hour may be quite steep for lawn work....that’s almost 3 times what I make with an engineering degree. In the end he knocked off $200 because I said I would do bagging up of the sticks and leaves. It only took me 1.5 hours to do...It doesn’t make sense to pay someone $100/hr to gather up sticks and put them on the curb.

Spencer was a true pleasure to work with. He brought great ideas to the table and helped me look at my landscaping project from a completely and enlightening angle. He was very knowledge about the plants in my garden and extremely open to feedback on slight changes I wanted to make to the plan. He provided me with a detailed and fair price. As a result of the work that he has done at my home to help get it sold, I have recommended him to three of my friends for similar projects.

Jordan is wonderful! He worked especially hard on our difficult yard and he knows what to do without guidance. He is professional and I would recommend him for whatever yard projects you have in mind easy or difficult! I love how he treats your property and yard as if its the way he would treat his own. I has just purchased the house about a year ago and the previous owner had beautiful plants and shrubbery that I wasn't sure what to do about. Jordan is very knowledgeable and helped me identify a few of my plants as well as my sequoia tree which I thought was a cedar tree up until he visited. You wont go wrong if you hire Jordan!

I didn't think I had many options for a garden in my uptown condo but Philip was able to come up with a beautiful arrangement of planters for my terrace garden. Overall, very happy with the service.

Ryan has completed many different projects for me. Remodeled a bathroom, tore off my old deck and built a new one, repaired drywall, painted the interior of my house, powerwashed and painted the exterior of my house, built a garden, as well as building a rock patio and fire pit. Ryan has always been professional and courteous. He is always on time, and works as long as it takes to get the job done. He does an excellent job, and keeps things moving so they get done quickly. I have been nothing but satisfied with the jobs that he has done, and will continue to use him in the future.

I have an abundance of experience working in many types of garden scenarios. I let the natural surroundings, soil type and clients vision, act as a guideline for the gardens that I create.

We specialize in hedge trimming. We do paver, driveways, patio, and side walk. We also do pine needle spreading and mulching. We offer free estimate for everyone.

We provide urban garden design and installation, food plots for restaurants or small green spaces at offices. We offer sustainable landscapes and foodscapes. We offer contract production of heirloom organic vegetables. We also offer heirloom flower and vegetable seed sales. Check us out on Facebook and the web.

We do it all. No job is too big or too small! We are dedicated and have strong work ethics. We are the sun-up-till-sun-down-kind of guys. We don't quit till it's done!

I cut grass and perform general yard maintenance. I am an athletic teen who is good at manual labor such as debris removal, heavy lifting and general physical labor.

I make beautiful gardens happen. I start off with a design, then I amend the soil, and then, plant what I have envisioned.

I'm one owner and an outdoors professional, willing to earn your business by working for you and letting you play and do other things you want.

We take pride in our work and we go above and beyond the customers expectations. We communicate at all times with our clients to make sure they are satisfied every step of the way!

I am interested in planting small flower gardens and container gardening. I have 30 years of experience in the horticulture field; however, I am retired now and the muscles are not what they used to be. Therefore, I have had to step down from the larger-type jobs. I do have one younger helper who assists me if I need to plant a small tree or a few shrubs. I am the happiest when I have my hands in the dirt! I am dependable. I give reasonable rates for my services and am very knowledgeable.

Enjoying a finished project, and watching the plant life grow full and healthy is always what we aim for, aside from happy customers and happy yards!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
