FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My best friend growing up Frank, his dad Joe, was a service/well man in Little Mountain, SC, the small town I grew up in. He also was our boy scout leader. Well we could be in the middle of a scout meeting and he would get a emergency call! Joe now had FREE help. 6-8 scouts would jump in the service truck and away we went! During my junior and senior year I got hired at Hamm's Ace Hardware in Prosperity, SC. This was our Lowe's and Home Depot, small town style. This is truly the place that set my service career fowarded, even though I wouldn't get credit for being a "service technician" for many more years!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Anywhere from high profile individuals to the outcast of modern society. All will get the same treatment!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
This was last year, a customers mother was having trouble with her contractor. He up and left her without a kitchen sink for 5 months. I spoke with her and she wanted me to come look at what she was facing. The contractor quit because he installed a undermount sink and the drain was to high now. I had to own up the wall behind 2 cabinets and lower the waste arm and it took me a couple of hours start to finish. My 9 year old son came along on this job because it was after he got out of after school. She talked with him whenever he wasn't helping. From school work, to family, and of course sports. Come to find out she was a baseball fan just like us. She loved the Yankees, just like us. One of her friends from New York happened to be Mariano Rivera's mother! Star relief pitcher for the Yankees. She goes back to her bedroom and comes out with a little box. She asked my son if he ever went to The Old Yankees Stadium. He of course said no ma'am! Then she gave him a commerative coin with dirt from the old Yankee Stadium that Marino had given to his mother! Jesse didn't quite understand the significance, but his proud Dad did as I finished her sink connection. I would have not charged her a thing but she insisted! To me is not about the money, but building relationships that will be handed down just like that coin filed with dirt!
