I took guitar lessons from Paul Warren at the Raleigh Music Academy for about two years. Paul was great and was able to customize a lesson plan for me to advance my playing ability faster. In addition to invididual instruction, the RMA has student shows so each student gets an opportunity to play in a live setting and gain greater experience and knowledge through interaction with other students. Each summer the RMA has a guitar workshop and guitar clinic where they bring in a well-known guitarist which gives students an opportunity to learn directly from a professional musician and participate in a Q & A with the artist. The RMA is great and really professionally run. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve as a musician whether they're a beginner or advanced player.

I've been taking guitar lessons from Paul Warren at the Raleigh Music Academy for over 4 years. In that time I've been able to go from not knowing how to play to learning and playing songs that I listen to regularly. Each students lessons are tailored to what they are interested in, with the instructors guiding students and suggesting techniques or songs that can help them improve. There are two things that really set the RMA apart: First are the top-notch artists that they are able to host for workshops and clinics. I've seen Greg Howe, Andy Timmons, Andy Wood, Chris Poland and Guthrie Govan perform and instruct, all in an intimate setting. Second are the monthly student shows. All students have the opportunity to play a song with other students in a live setting to family and friends. This is a great learning experience and gives validation to the time spent learning new techniques and songs. If you are looking to learn guitar, bass, percussion, piano, banjo, mandolin, fiddle or voice, the RMA is the place to go. I'm glad I did.

Working at the RMA was absolutely a delight. Friendly staff, great work ethics, and some of the best musicians on the East Coast are all to blame. The RMA really does provide the best music education in the area - largely due to the very experienced and unbelievably talented group of teachers. These people are all in the tip-top tier of musicians... You really can't go wrong. It was a fantastic experience working at the RMA, and I'm proud to be able to call my former colleagues (and musical inspirations) friends.

Paul Warren is a parent's dream come true. He's very communicative regarding scheduling, organized, and enthusiastic about his work as a teacher for my son. He teaches in a flexible way that keeps my son wanting to always return, and keeps it interesting based on the music my son wants to learn. Paul really goes that extra mile to make sure the entire lesson experience is tops.

The RMA rocks! I've attended multiple summer workshops and they've been the most inspirational and informative guitar events that I've been a part of!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We teach guitar, bass, drum, piano, banjo, mandolin and fiddle lessons in one on one private lessons with extremely qualified and competent instructors.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

We offer flexibility in enrollment and recommend that people try our instruction for a month as we are set up on a month to month basis instead of a semester system. We are confident that students who try a month with our instructors will want to stay and enroll for subsequent months. We also provide free monthly student shows on a voluntary basis for students who really want to work on their performance and have fun with other musicians studying with us.
