Richard was very polite, very thorough, very honest. The tuning took a little longer than expected, but it is a 120 year old piano with rusty hardware that hasn't been tuned in years. During the tuning process one of the strings broke and Richard wasn't even going to charge for the replacement. I of course paid for the extra string, will definitely hire again for my tuning needs :)

We hired Richard Kalter to tune our piano after moving to NC from out of state. He was on time and was very professional. It was clear as soon as he saw the piano that he was confident, first addressing a problem with things that shifted inside the piano during the move. After doing a thorough diagnostic by pulling out keys that the pads of pedals had shifted out of place. He set everything in place snd then proceeded with the timing. The piano sounds great a d our family is enjoying it so much. Thanks Richard for your wonderful skill and understanding of this instrument.

Not many people will tackle a 115 year old piano that had not been tuned in over 25 years. Mr. Kalter replied quickly to my request for service, and we were able to schedule a service within 10 days. He arrived on time, and began working immediately. He vacumned the piano body as it was full of dust, then began tuning. The process took about 5 hours. He also re-seated the regulator bar for the celeste pedal, as it had become loose and filled out of position. All for the same basic price. While playing the piano later that evening, my ear picked up one key that was slightly out of tune. He returned within 24 hours to fix it. Overall a great experience, and I highly recommend his services.
