I've done one month with her so far and start my second month this week. I am normally someone who is terrified to sing infront of anyone, but she makes it a very safe and welcoming environment. I have really enjoyed my lessons and can't wait to continue them! Highly suggest taking lessons from her.

In a word, Johanna is amazing! Ive been playing guitar for many years and have always wanted to accompany myself by singing but never felt comfortable with my voice (except for occasional backup singing). I started interviewing local voice instructors, and was disappointed to find that most were basically non-professional singers who provide either opera and/or choral type lessons. They werent very passionate, and ironically enough, they all sounded similar. Their voices did not move me. I decided to go online and purchase DVD lessons. Although the instructors were good, the lessons were too generic. I knew I was doing certain things incorrectly, and the DVD lessons couldnt help with that. I needed personal hands-on instruction. I stumbled across the Thumbtack site and found Johanna. On the initial phone call, I was impressed with her professionalism, and the passion she had towards singing. I explained that I wanted a teacher that was honest and would tell me when I was doing something wrong. None of that Oh you sound wonderful (even when I dont), nonsense. I dont subscribe to the kind of instruction that instills false confidence. It needs to be honest otherwise its useless IMHO. I almost walked out of my first lesson when I heard her sing. She is THAT good. I actually consider her to be one of my favorite female vocalists. She is also an accomplished pianist. Johanna has a way of pulling things out of me that I didnt realize were there. She is tactful, but also a very direct teacher. She instills true confidence. I used to have a whiny singing voice due to improper technique. Now my voice feels like an instrument that I can use to create music with. I have moments where I sing and think, Wow, was that me? Its pretty awesome! And this is after less than a year of training. I plan on continuing lessons for a while. If you want to be taught by a world-class vocal instructor, give Johanna a call. She will take your voice wherever you want it to go. The icing on the cake is that Johanna is a wonderful, friendly, and fun loving person.

Shes sooo amazing! She takes her time with you and make sure that you are doing the techniques the correct way. She will definitely boost your confidence. I'm not a singer but i can feel my voice transforming.. i can enunciate my words better..
