Best handyman from Thumbtack so far. At one point I was thinking he was over communicating. Lol. He called several times to confirm his arrival time and to ask questions to be ready ahead of time. He arrived and jumped right in. Finished installing my ceiling mount garage storage shelf in record time. And left my garage neater than it was before. He also installed curtain rods and that was super quick and still done perfectly and couldn’t tell he was there. He doesn’t waste any time and had the lowest per hour rate I’ve seen. His girlfriend is his partner on the job and they make a great team.

Shaunte is nice, however they are definitely amateur handyman. I left shaunte and his brother unattended and came back to my doorknobs installed upside down. He told me that the doorknobs could not be installed correctly until I had to physically show him. I asked him to reinstall and when i came back the next day noticed that several of the doorknobs were crooked. Shaunte also told me that the 60 hinges I bought were the wrong size. when i was about to return them, my mom said "NO, Let me show you" and they actually were the right size. One other thing, Shaunte took about 2 hours to run to Lowe's to get a tool that he thought he needed to screw in some closet doorknobs and once they got back, they determined that the tool they bought indeed would not work and that they can just drill in the doorknobs... in this case, they could've drilled them in all along and gotten more done. Also re: work ethic shaunte/handyman holmes charges by the hour... however, he arrived one hour late on the first day i hired him and 20 minutes late on second day. I was not there to supervise on the first day and was briefly there on the second day. Shaunte and his helper left for about 2.5 hours going to lunch and then Lowes to pick up a tool. My house is pretty close to lowes so this should've been a quick task and my best guess is that maybe they enjoyed a relaxing lunch . I don't care at all about people going to lunch, but I should not be expected to pay for their lunch or just kind of messing around. Shaunte attempted to charge me for their lunch breaks and also sales tax on a cash transaction paid under the table. He said that he has an LLC and pays sales tax, i personally didn't believe this as I have never seen this on labor transactions. I think he was just trying to collect more money. This is definitely a case of you get what you pay for. Honestly the whole event was stressful and I could've probably learned how to do all the stuff myself and been better off. On the positive side, I thought he did a very good job at mounting TV's, would highly recommend for that! And also would recommend if you want just an extra helping hand around the house for some tasks, just don't expect a professional grade handyman.
