They arrived on time and started to work right away. They were able to finish the whole move in just 4 hours; this was one hour faster than they estimated. They did not break anything and we're super careful with everything. They were nice and moderately friend. They worked hard and only took one 10 minute break. However, they ended up packing some of our thinges without asking. We had a few boxed left open and they put some things in them. This wouldn't have been a big deal except that put a trash can, which I use when I clean my pet's cage, in a box with my clothes. Honestly that is really gross. I also tipped each of the three guys $20 a piece. No one said thank you or smiled when I gave it to them. Overall, I would use Joyful movers again and I recommend them to others.

Excellent experience. I'll book them again for my next two moves. My experience was two day engagement - day 1 for packing, day two for moving. 4-man team. Guys worked really hard - thorough, polite, professional. Amazing how much they got done, and how quickly. Highly recommended.

I had to move a complete 3 bedroom home from Raleigh to Greenville SC area in late October. Also, I am a single senior female so the task seemed daunting to me. Juan Willis replied to my posting and he was a pure gift. He was so professional, honest, helpful, caring, hard worker, and he knew his stuff. He and his assistant did a great job, was very fast, always on time, and had all the equipment needed. And, the quote he gave me was exactly what he charged....so affordable. Juan is working on expanding his business and I am sure he will succeed. He is such a good person. I would 100% recommend him for any moving services. You will not be disappointed!

Great experience with Thurston & associate! Arrived on time! In fact, he arrived way before me, & had to wait about 20 min before I could arrive. Even with that, he was very professional, approachable & friendly. Would definitely recommend him! I look fwd to using his services, again!

Great working with DC Handy Vets. I will definitely use them again for future projects. Denise and her team were very knowledgeable about the Ikea Furniture assembly job in front of them, and they tackled the job with professionalism. Finally, they cleaned up all the packing materials too. Great work!!!

The truck arrived about an hour late due to traffic and without some of the materials we were promised (shrink wrap). The bellhops moved the boxes to the curb while waiting for the truck, but had nothing to do for the last half hour or so we were waiting for the truck. Customer service did resolve the issue by sending out two of them to buy shrink wrap, which still wasn't quite enough to wrap all of our furniture. They also adjusted one hour of the truck's rate for the time the truck wasn't there, but not the rate for the movers' idle time. The movers were young guys with not a lot of moving experience, but they had a good attitude and listened to what we wanted in terms of furniture wrapping. They didn't seem to be super careful with items marked "fragile," though, nor did they keep garment boxes upright. We haven't opened the boxes yet, so I'm not sure if clothing came unhung or any items broke. As I mentioned above, the customer service agents were responsive when we had issues. However, there were several issues with this move, including with the website. It certainly wasn't the seamless move they advertise. Overall, Bellhops offers a good value for straightforward moves. If you need more full-service moves that include furniture wrapping or packing, or need experienced movers, you may want to look elsewhere.

Mr. Hodge packed my apt very efficiently. He can benefit from more help with packing and unpacking/moving but he was very effective with the help he did have. It took longer than I expected but none of my belongings were missing or damaged. i would recommend him.

Janet and the team we worked with were exceedingly courteous and professional. She worked with us to coordinate a team on short notice, contacted me ahead of time to confirm and was available to field questions. Jaquan and Ed arrived on time, did a phenomenal and speedy job efficiently packing our moving truck like it was a game of Tetris despite the rainy weather. Thanks to them for getting our move off to a great start.

Movers were professional, careful, courteous, as well as fun to be around. Treated our treasures as their own. Went above and beyond with planning, packing the truck, addressing any concerns we might have had, helping us stay light-hearted and inspired (while we finished up the packing the day of the move). From our first contact in the office, to the estimator who came out (and later provided us with used boxes we were able to recycle back to him), to the guys who did the physical move, we would happily use them again. But we're hoping we never have to move again!

Don’t think a minute about unpacking yourself. Susan from Move In Solutions does it all. Susan has a keen eye for maximizing space, she is punctual, and took care of our belongings as if they were her own. Susan also got rid of the cartons and garbage. Her Handiman hung our pictures and put together our dinette set. Her rates are very reasonable. Give her a call, you will be glad you did. Susan and Howard Raff

July 6th at 5:30 PM our "Major Van Lines" backed out on us and left us high and dry. I reached out to Thumbtack and they matched us with Great Nation Moving. Rose took our call at 9:00 pm on a Friday after we could not get anyone for two hours to respond. She worked diligently to get us picked up the next morning and out of our home so the new owners could take occupancy. Elmer was our driver and his crew was amazing, they arrived in a new 18-wheeler moving truck with Great Nation Moving logo. The crew members were in uniform, polite and extremely good at packing and protecting all our furniture. The logistics team called us to let us know that our belongings would be arriving on July 10th in Salt Lake City, Utah. I cannot stress enough the gratitude we have for a professional smaller company coming to pack and load us in one day, drive for two days and deliver us when the "BIG BOYS FAILED.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
