Had some small jobs done by Kurt like installation of curtain rods, coat hooks, fixing a kitchen drawer and added a kitchen pantry (prefab from the big box store). Kurt arrived on time, and worked with minimum supervision. He was polite, professional, paid attention to detail and took the extra time to do things right and cleaned up after himself. I am very happy with his workmanship and is reasonability priced for the Omaha area. I will use him again in the future.

Tom (and Joe) installed a kitchen sink, garbage disposal, and a faucet for my wife and me and we were very pleased with it. They kept us informed as to their progress and it was a concretely professional job.

Jason did a great job replacing my toilet. Got back to me very quickly and kept in touch throughout the process. He methodically took a stressful situation for me and made it 'back to normal'. I greatly appreciate good communication and execution.

Excellent job. When they came out to inspect the water heater they discovered it was not up to code. They inspected, cleaned and drained the water heater. Came back couple of days later to bring the water heater and garbage disposal up to code. City inspected and have passed and are now certified. I appreciate their candor regarding not meeting city code since we intend to sell the property. Reasonably priced.

Dan went above and beyond the call to repair the leaking cracked drain pipe in the wall behind my kitchen cabinets. Another plumber wouldn't even consider repair without me tearing out the cabinets and granite counter-top. They have won a lifetime customer.

Very timely in responding to my request for a quote. The technician was prompt, very informative and professional. He went above and beyond to make sure the problem was fixed and made it a point to ensure the area was clean when he was finished. He also corrected a couple of other things (for no additional charge) that I wasn't aware were issues. Would definitely recommend American Rooter.

A Better Way, Kevin Osborne, did a great job for us! He installed tile and put our bathrooms back together, better than new! He was prompt and courteous. He went above and beyond his quote by including drywall and plumbing work that was unanticipated. He did not nickel and dime for the items he supplied from his truck when something was needed. He kept the site clean daily and was easy to have in my home. He takes pride in his work and it shows! I will recommend him to colleagues and friends.

Zach is the Real Deal. Trustworthy, reliable, skilled craftsman. He can do it all well to include cleaning interior, repairing walls, install flooring, install blinds, painting, and accounting. Definitely in tune with customer needs. Understands pricing while good at making sure the customer is knowledgeable on the exact cost for project from start to finish. Uses technology to optimize the entire experience. Bottomline: Zach is going to be our FIRST pick for future construction projects that are in his perview. Already recommended to several close friends. This was some of the best work we had done in the RENTAL. One word to describe Zach's performance, "INCREDIBLE." RBW

The actual service provider was Brian Intrieri, who is associated with, but not actually employed by "Drain Smith." Brian provided excellent service; he showed up on time, diagnosed and repaired the problem, and charged exactly what was agreed upon in the initial quote. I really appreciate his quick response to my service request and his coming out the next day.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

    • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
    • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
    • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
