My father worked in engineering. He build race car engines on the weekend with his friends. He read about repairing old radios before he went to bed. And for my third birthday he bought me a hammer. Never too young to learn. And by the time I was a freshman in high school I was spending most of my free time repairing my parents housing rentals. Told me it was a good use of my time and I’d appreciate it later. I didn’t believe them so much then. But of course with age comes experience. And with experience, wisdom.

Two years ago we hired a painting contractor to paint our house. We just got aluminum siding and didn’t want to spend a lot on the paint. And as the saying goes, you get what you paid for. The contractor didn’t do it right and we were forced to higher a new painter this year. And that’s how I found Red Knife Construction. Their estimate wasn’t the cheapest but I didn’t want a repeat so I went with these guys. And wow. They knew what they were doing. They told us the previous painter failed to use the right primer which is why all the paint came off. And they also resealed our deck. And fix the shed behind the house. If you’re looking for for quality work, go with Red Knife.

Chris and his crew chief came to our house to check out all the projects we needed taking care of. Within a week we received an itemized estimate for each project. We decided to start on the metal Pole barn removing and replacing all the deteriorated baseboards around the entire building and covering the wood with a metal sheetiing. We also wanted the wood trim around the 2 windows replaced. They gave us a start date but due to the weather the start date was delayed.
They did keep in touch with us and once the weather cleared a new date was set. They arrived as scheduled and within 3 days the job was completed much to our satisfaction.

We worked with Chris. He showed up on time every time. Never late once. He really understood our house. We have a historic craftsmen and have had a lot of trouble finding the right contractor that knows how to fix them right. And Chris definitely did. He told us he’s lived in several historic homes and knew a lot about the architecture and wood types, shingles, siding…. We were very impressed so we hired them. They replaced the roof, the siding and our old front sunroom windows. And even though it was all new material. They were still able to keep the historic feel. They just did all the little things you need to do to match the style of an older home. And had lots of great advise. Our house was never looked better. I’ve never heard of them before, but now I’m sure I’ll never forget them again.
