Banner Pest responded to my thumbtack quickly and with an immediate no-fuss and reasonable quote for an ant problem in my home. Rick answered the phone when I called to schedule an appointment and he patiently answered all my questions and multiple phone calls. Rick scheduled to see me same-day, within 2 hours of my call! He walked through the property with me and spent over 1.5 hours putting down well-explained chemicals to stop my ant problem. His work came with a 6 month warranty and he has promised to come back free-of-charge to put another spray down when I have new mulch installed. He even found remnants of an old termite tunnel that was previously unnoticed. He made sure that there was no longer an existing termite problem. Highly recommended.

I used Pest-End Exterminators to get rid of a yellow jacket bee's nest when the bees started coming into my basement. They responded within an hour to my service request, gave me a quote, and set up an appointment for the next day. The technician was on time, friendly, and determined to solve the problem. I couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend Pest-End Exterminators.

Ryan was extremely responsive and totally professional. We had an opossum living in the back of our shed and rats living under our shed!! Ryan came over the next day when we heard the opossum hiss at my wife when she was in the shed. The rat bait that he set in the shed is completely out of the way and Ryan assured us that our dog would be safe (even if he were to eat one of the dead rats). The products he uses really are safe for nature. 😊 He also performed a spray on the property for wasps, ants, etc. and provided us with 1-year protection because we are new to our home. I would highly recommend Safer Nature to anyone looking to hire a pest control service in the Amesbury area!

Francisco was on time, and very professional. He seemed very knowledgeable about the carpet beetles in my car. I have a small child, and I was worried about the chemicals being used. He was sure to give me a list applications being used in my car before using them. I am a little more at ease. He was able to leave me a detailed invoice. He also offered a treatment follow-up in 3-4 weeks. I'm happy that I called. He gave me a good deal, and was very thorough in his work. I will be sure to give an update. Thank you again.

I contacted a different exterminator recommended by Thumbtack and hired them. I left Antipesto a voice message to cancel. (A&J Pest Control offered less toxic products at one-third the cost, same guaranty.) Thank you.

After having a bat in our house we went to Thumbtack to find a pest control expert. They contacted me within 24 hours, and showed up to my house the day later. They thoroughly inspected the home for bat colonies, and found none. They were insightful and offered suggestions as to how the bat could have entered the home. They showed up within their 2 hour window as we agreed. There is nothing they could have done better, hence the 5 star rating. If I have a problem with rodents or pests in the future I will be going back to them.

They came, set traps and bait boxes and 5 days later came to pick up the trapped mice. They refilled the bait boxes and offered ongoing spring/fall maintenance at a very reasonable rate. I haven't heard or seen any evidence of mice since. I am very happy with the service and will have them back to spray for ants and possibly for mosquito control as well

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

      • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
        • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
      • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
        • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
      • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
        • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

      • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
        • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
      • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
