We had to leave town while our 1 year old cat was sick. Thankfully we found Sarah and she was able to accommodate us last minute. She came early in the morning to do a meet and great before we left. Sarah was very knowledgable about administering medicine and I felt instantly comfortable leaving our cat with her. She came twice a day, administered meds, fed and played with our cat - always sending us a text and picture update. Sarah was prompt to text back and answer any questions we had. We will definitely call Sarah next time we head out of town!

I have 2 small yorkies who were desperately overdue for a groom. Having just recently moved to Long Beach, NY, I used Thumbtack to find someone new to groom our dogs. As everything worked out, Janice had availability to do my dogs the next day which is SUPER rare. I jumped on the opportunity and she showed up the next day. She was excellent with my dogs. My 4lb male is a super pain to wash or get to stay still during grooming but Janice was patient and kind even with all his misbehavior. Janice was gentle with his fragile but fuzzy frame. He's too cute to hate but he sure is bad and she gave Janice his worst lol. It was entertaining to watch. My female put up some fight too but Janice was able to handle my pets with patience and great care. My female was giving her kisses toward the end! The cuts came out just how i liked but my wife noticed its not 100% even on our female. First off, My wife never likes how our female gets cut and secondly, my wife needs to watch what our two little terrors put the groomers through to understand why she is not 100% even i know, and i certainly wont complain. This is without a doubt the most humane way to have your pets groomed. Truly an enjoyable and worry free experience. Janice was very tidy during her work and cleaned up thoroughly after she was finished. I highly recommend this service, truly a unique and wonderful experience!

Randi was punctual (early in fact) and has a clean, professional mobile salon. We've had our dog groomed at other places but Feline Designs did the best job of all.

Patty is an excellent groomer. Patty groomed my first cocker spaniel which was not an easy task & she did a beautiful job everytime. Patty has tremendous patience. My new new cocker spaniels fur grows excessively fast, & everytime Patty grooms her she is always looks beautiful with her cocker cut. I will not let another groomer except Patty groom my dog. I've been a customer of Pattys for 15 years phenomal caring groomers are very rare & Patty happens to be one of the rarest.

I was pleased with Ken's work. He showed up on time, he was very friendly and caring for my dog. I have an old and big dog and Ken really took good care of him. Ken gave him a bath, cut his nails, clean his ears. My dog was clean and happy. Thank you Ken! I will call for an appointment again soon. Mag Port Washington, NY

I'm the groomer you want grooming your special member of the family

My sister owns a business working with dogs and cats. We wash, clean, dry and provide grooming. We also provide delivery and a hotel for animals. We've been in the business for a long time.

I believe cats are are always way more comfortable at home. There is the occasional kitty that is used to being out and about. i even recently saw a young man walking his cat!! (so awesome) But for the most part our felines feel better hanging out on the window sill and doing some good old people watching. Dogs have the advantage of going to the dog park or doggie day care everyday or a few times a week and if anything are used to being away from home, cats not so much. they are fragile, i recently moved to the area and it took my poor cat almost 2 weeks to adjust, poor thing hardly ate and would not leave the spot he managed to wedge himself into behind the couch! Lets not mess up their routines. Lets allow them to keep on people watching from their favorite perch

I am patient and love the dogs I will give the dogs a break as they need it I will come to your home and groom your fur baby where it is convenient for your circumstance.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do cats have to get groomed?

It’s not crazy to have your cat groomed. Grooming will keep your cat’s fur soft and silky as well as give you early warning about any health concerns. Regular grooming can also help reduce the volume of hair your cat may be shedding and keep your longhair kitty cool if you live in a warm climate. Professionals competently groom your cat and are trained to manage them if they resist being groomed, while you may get scratched doing the same task. The national average price for cat grooming is $50-$70. Pet grooming prices may vary based on the task. For example, a bath and brush for shorthair cats may be $15, $20 for medium-hair cats, and $25 for a longhair. Cat groomers can also keep your cat’s ears cleaned, trim their nails, and provide haircuts if needed. Average prices for haircuts can vary from $30 to $95 or more, depending on whether the cat is shy or aggressive and whether their coat is in good condition, matted, or otherwise difficult to groom.

Where can you get your cat groomed?

Cat grooming keeps your cat’s fur tangle-free and clean. Most businesses that offer dog grooming or general pet grooming also offer cat grooming; some businesses even specialize solely in cat grooming. Look for a professional who has training grooming cats or belongs to a professional association such as the National Cat Groomers Institute, because cat grooming techniques can be different than for dogs. Cat grooming can encompass a wide range of services. In addition to haircutting, hair detangling and hairstyling, cat groomers can trim cat nails, clean out your cat’s ears, give flea baths, demat, trim facial fur, bathe and even blow-dry your cat. Health safety and etiquette requires your cat to be in good health and have all their vaccinations before using grooming services.

How much should cat grooming cost?

Keeping your cat groomed is an important part of maintaining their good health. The national average cost for cat grooming ranges between $50 and $70, with prices varying based on where you live and the services you request. Your cat’s temperament can also affect grooming prices. Scratching and hissing during a groomer visit can raise rates an average of $5-$10, or more, as hazard pay. Larger cats and long-haired cats that take longer to groom will also usually cost more. Here are some examples of cat grooming average costs:

    • Shave down or lion cut: $35-$60. These cuts preserve the hair around the face and tip of the tail but shave down the entire body. The lion cut is often recommended for extremely matted hair is exceedingly matted, for extreme heat, or for cats who are suffering from hairballs.
    • Ear cleaning and nail trim: $30.
    • Nail trim: $10-$15.
    • Bath and nail trim: $45.
    • Bath and sanitary trim: $55. A sanitary trim clips the hair on a cat’s behind to prevent fecal matting in longhair cats or cats that have mobility issues.
    • Bath, blow-dry, brush out, nail trim and ear cleaning: $40.
    • Full haircut, bath, and nail trim: $45-$95, depending on matting.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
