We love Pooch Ventures!! They are reliable, trustworthy and super sweet to our dog Mochi. We are very pleased with their service and the technology they provide - I get alerted via email when they arrive, get details about the walk (ie potty business) and can even see a GPS route of my dog's walk. I highly recommend Pooch Ventures.

I know that my dog can be a pain to groom, but Joanne and Jazmin give so much patience to my aggressive pup. Eventually my dog give up fighting and allow them to groom at peace. I would definitely ask them to groom again. ❤️ I will not put up to my previous groomer that does not allow people see their dog get groomed. I highly doubt that they treated my dog with care. At home grooming are so much worth it.

Prima Donna has been taking care of our dog since she was a puppy. When Donna first came to meet with us she was the first person to make our puppy feel comfortable. Now for the past year and a half our dog has has been loving her walks, hikes and play dates with Deb, Donna and Rob. She leaves with her tail wagging and comes home ready for a nap. Also, you get updates and can check out awesome action shots on Facebook. Prima Donna is professional, reliable and most importantly they LOVE animals. I recommend them without reservation and am SO happy to have found them!

My boy Charley always stays at the YDBF daycare and he loves it. I have never seen a dog excited about leaving home. All the walkers treat him like their own dog and I know he is being loved and looked after. Even for his weekly walks, Charley looks forward to them coming to get him. I don't know what I would do without them. Thanks guys!

Working with Ellese is wonderful! She always responds in a timely manner. My dog Essa comes back to me looking fantastic. She really knows how to connect with the dogs so that they feel comfortable being groomed. I use Ellese all the time now, it feels more personal then going to petsmart.

Kali is a lifesaver! I work long hours and I really needed someone to walk my dog Leo several times a day as well as look after my cat and Chinchilla. Kali is very punctual and professional and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure my pets are well cared for. Don’t know what I’d do without her help.

Great dog walking service! They're very professional and genuinely care about my dog. Very reliable and always on time. I have a large dog and was a little nervous at first, but they know what they're doing and are able to handle him easily. I get daily reports on their app, including pics! Sometimes I don't know who enjoys the walks more. My dog or the them!

David has proven to be a caring and dependable animal lover, ever since he met his dog, Smitty. Throughout the years, he has taken great care of his dog and has gone above and beyond to make sure that Smitty is always in great spirits. In addition, he has babysat his neighbors' pets multiple times throughout these past years and has proven himself to be attentive and reliable. I have no qualms in recommending David to anyone wanting their dog to be taken care of, knowing that your pet will be in loving hands

    Raeni's K9 Service

    New To Thumbtack

      About

I am a dog trainer with K9 training background. I own two German Shepherds, one who will be qualifying to be part of a K9 unit. I am in process of qualifying to work in a K9 unit. My other shepherd is a sweet goofy family dog. I have trained a variety of breeds most notably, pit bulls, terriers (all sorts), working dogs, but mainly, my work is with German Shepherds. My love for my dogs really began in middle school when my best friend and I started a dog walking business in our hometown of South Orange. Since then, I've been dedicated to helping people better understand their dogs as owners, to enhance the bond between owner and dog and to have a happy balance in that relationship. It is my belief that being aware of your body language makes an impact in the handling and training of your best friend. Prices vary depending on what you like to do. Send me an inquiry to get the process rolling and let's start a new relationship with you and your dog. My training approach is one of getting to know you and your dog. I do travel onsite to your home to see the home environment and the interaction between the owner, family members, other animals (if any) and the dog. To me, this presents the whole picture of what your dog is dealing with and allows me the opportunity to help you even greater. I have found this method to be successful and allows us to correct issues, concerns that you may be experiencing immediately. Pricing is based on what is needed to achieve a balanced dog. I do have flexibility and love to work with my clients. Rates for boarding and training can from 500 to 800 depending on days and weeks. Along with training. Service dog training ranges from 300 and up depending on the dog or if a puppy. Group dog training can range from 75 to 150. Dog training can range from 150-325 depending on your location and travel time for me that all comes into play so please keep in mind price will go up if your far.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

      What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

      What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

What vaccines do dogs need to be groomed?

It’s important to make sure your dog is up to date on its vaccines before taking it to a groomer. Vaccinations keep your dog and the other dogs that use the establishment healthy. Viruses can linger long after a dog is gone, so an unvaccinated dog can infect a number of other dogs days or even months after their visit. Find out about your dog groomer’s vaccination policies, and think carefully about receiving services from a company that does not require vaccinations. Here are the main vaccinations that are generally required for dog grooming:

      • Parvovirus: Parvo is a nasty virus that can kill dogs within 48-72 hours of infection. The virus is incredibly persistent and, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, is resistant to heat, cold, humidity and drying. It’s spread by dog-to-dog contact or contact with contaminated feces, environments (food and water bowls, collars and leashes, etc.,) or people.
      • Adenovirus 2: Dogs receive this vaccination to protect against canine infectious hepatitis. The vaccination can also helps prevent canine cough.
      • Canine distemper virus: Distemper has no known cure and can cause serious pain, illness, and even death, although recovery is possible with medical intervention.
      • Rabies: This disease attacks the central nervous system and — when untreated — will
      • lead to death. The CDC recommends euthanizing an unvaccinated animal that has been exposed to rabies, although six-month isolation followed by vaccination is also permissible.
      • Para-influenza: Canine para-influenza leads to kennel cough and an unhappy dog.

How much does it cost to groom a dog?

Dog grooming costs depend on the service your pet requires. Nationally, the average price for dog grooming ranges from $40 to $100, varying by location. Not surprisingly, dog grooming on New York’s Upper East Side costs nearly double what it costs in a small town in Montana. Dog groomers typically handle every aspect of your dog’s beauty and hygiene, from tooth brushing to hairstyling. One potential way to save is to have your dog groomed at your doggy daycare — sometimes they offer discounts on dog grooming prices for clients. Here are some examples of average dog grooming costs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please note these prices would include transportation fees for picking up and dropping off your dog to your home:

      • Nails: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
      • Toothbrushing: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
      • Tooth scraping (removal of plaque from teeth to prevent infection), with anesthesia: $600
      • Tooth scraping, without anesthesia: $400.
      • Wash and dry: $60
      • Ears: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
      • Grooming package: $130 — includes wash, nails, teeth, ears, gland expression and haircut
