- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is clear and simple, based on time and materials. Important: I almost always quote flat rates not hourly rates. This way you can be sure the job will get done without any surprise costs. If you have any questions at all please just ask.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My first priority is to ensure that your expectations are met. I will ask questions about your needs including photos or dimensions if those items will ensure smooth communication. For any project larger than a "quick fix" we will schedule a site visit to establish a relationship, discuss your goals and fully agree on a price and terms before beginning work. Personalized service is a unique advantage of working with a truly local expert right in your neighborhood.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been a "Mr Fixit" for over 20 years. My first service business was in residential landscaping where I worked with dozens of new clients by providing excellent communication and personalized service. I was told that I stood out from competitors who were often times grumpy, non flexible and bad with simple communication. I later branched out into commercial consulting and design work, helping companies build "green" buildings that are healthy and energy efficient. After my wife and I built a new home from scratch and moved to Jersey City, I began performing carpentry projects and building furniture for friends, family and neighbors in the Jersey City area.
