Phylip J. says, "I can’t say enough great things about Two Brothers Roofing. They did an outstanding job on both our roof and the interior sheetrock everything came out clean, solid, and professionally done. Alex was especially great to work with. His communication was clear and consistent throughout the entire process, and he made sure we always knew what to expect. The level of service really stood out. What truly impressed us, though, was how they went above and beyond. As new homeowners, we ran into an unexpected issue with a broken stair, and Alex stepped in to help with cementing and fixing it something they absolutely didn’t have to do, but did anyway. That kind of care and integrity is hard to find. Highly recommend Two Brothers Roofing. We’ll definitely be working with them again in the future!"See more

Sarah M. says, "Charlie was a great guy to work with. He was super communicative and took feedback well. We initially called him in to do a minor project- fixing some broken cement on the exterior wall, resealing our mudroom roof and cleaning up some seemingly small spots with water damage on the interior. Charlie and his team started on the project quickly but due to two full days of rain in the forecast had to stop working for a few days. In the meantime the rain storm revealed that our minor problem was actually more significant. I sent lots of pictures and videos to Charlie and he came up with an action plan. He came back out once the rain stopped to assess our roof, the neighbor's roof, the exterior of both buildings and the gutters (we live in connected brick row houses). Seemingly, the issue with water in the interior of our house was largely related to our neighbor's gutter being clogged and cracked in parts and some of their bricks not being sealed properly. Charlie informed them of the issue on their property, which they took care of. On our property, again, Charlie was able to put an action plan together quickly and got to work immediately- resealing our main building roof and installing new flashing (for extra protection), removing water damaged sections of the interior wall, stuccoing the walls, skim coating, sanding and painting. We also went ahead and had Charlie's team replace our gutter, in order to avoid future issues on the other shared party wall."See more

Justin F. says, "⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Professional, Fast, and Top Work! We recently hired NJ Gold Star Construction for a complete deck refurbish, and they knocked it out of the park. Edgar, the owner, was easy to work with—professional and clear with communication. Donald was the lead on-site, managing a dedicated crew of 4 guys who showed up every single day ready to work. They completed this massive 7-day job ahead of schedule, and the attention to detail is exceptional. The quality of the Trex Clam Shell flooring with its custom "picture-frame" border, the crisp white vinyl railings with custom flat caps, and the clean finish on the stairs looks incredible. They even seamlessly replaced a rotting kitchen window overlooking the deck as part of the project. The team kept the workspace tidy, respected our property, and delivered master-level building. If you want a crew that takes genuine pride in their carpentry and delivers a premium result, look no further than Edgar, Donald, and the NJ Gold Star team!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

There are several reasons why it’s worth it to hire a professional roofer instead of attempting it yourself. The first is safety. Roofing is inherently dangerous, as a fall from a roof could seriously injure or kill you. Roofers have specialized equipment and training to help prevent accidents.

Next is experience. Roofers know how to spot problems (leaks, missing shingles, moss or mold growth, etc.)  in your roof that could potentially save you from costly repairs down the road.

And finally, roofers save you time by getting the job done quickly and with a high degree of quality.

Experts typically recommend that you have your roof professionally inspected at least once a year. But you also may want a licensed professional to inspect your roof during these circumstances:

  • You're buying or selling a home
  • You're filing an insurance claim
  • Before or after a contractor does major work on your roof

Search the Thumbtack site for experienced roof inspectors near you. You can contact them directly to set up a time to conduct the inspection, and learn more about their pricing structure and services.

Roof inspectors are trained to look for signs of a failing roofing system that could lead to damage — especially water and structural damage. Your home's roofing materials may look great from the ground, but it's difficult to see potential damage unless you take a closer look. A roof inspector can do just that.

During an inspection, the professional will typically look for issues that may have occurred during installation and manufacturing. They’ll also keep an eye out for damage caused by normal wear and tear, as well as extreme weather events. They might also access your attic to see if there are signs of a leak in your roof.

Here’s a short list of common things a contractor will look out for during a roof inspection:

  • Damage caused by hail, wind, snow and rain
  • Missing, broken, buckling, curling or cracked shingles
  • Roof decay, rot, moss, mildew and mold
  • Rust around the flashing
  • Damaged chimneys and vents
  • Holes, gaps and punctures that could cause a roof leak
  • Water stains and ventilation issues

Hiring a roofing inspector prevents you from having to do the dangerous work of climbing onto your roof. Plus, inspectors know how to assess potential damage and determine the best way to repair your roof and prevent the need for more expensive repairs in the future.
