Don't hire
In fact. Don't hire anyone on thumbtack unless it's a small project. If it is a contractor like project where lights involves, sheetrocks, involves plumbing, tiles paint. Don't. This guy come. He'll tell you he does it all. And I'm sure he might. He'll spend a day in one area and of course he'll want 1/3 if not half of your money. Take it and tell you he paid x to that person to do this part money is not enough. When you say but no. That's not how it works. You asked me something, we agreed on a number for start to finish, it means you calculated everything in. And the job barely started, how often are you going to do this, bringing that not enough when you had other people you could have picked. He will not show and half your money in his pocket while your material already opened. Giving a wrong estimate on job is incompetence. If you ask me 5k for something. No matter if I talk you into 4500. If you accept, you know you how you'll spent here and there so, it's either you accepted knowing you were never going to finish or you're an incompetent.
So bottom line avoid at all cost. Get one insured with real papers. It will worth the headache and anger you'll deal with on that guy as at the end. He'll give you a cheaper quote just to cost you the same when he comes with the not enough but by then. Half your money will be in his pocket so you'll spent another full amount on a real one. So people, it is at your own risk and perils. I actually came to answer his response through my inbox to find another bad review for them. It is exactly what had happened to me.
Don't assume you'll be the lucky one. Don't assume the good reviews were real. People creates good reviews to get clients but no one comes to give bad reviews out of imagination or for fun. No one
