FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Local moves are billed hourly, based on crew size and truck, and we tell you the estimated hours before you book. Long-distance moves are quoted as a flat price based on the size of the shipment and the distance. Travel time, materials, and any stairs, long carries or elevator conditions are discussed up front and written into the estimate - nothing gets added on move day that we did not talk about first.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It starts with a short conversation: room count, both addresses, stairs or elevator, parking, and your date. For a studio, a one-bedroom or a small local job, that is usually enough for us to price it the same day - no survey needed. Larger homes and offices get a video walkthrough or an in-home survey. Once you are happy with the estimate we lock your date, send the paperwork, and one person stays with your move from booking through delivery.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
University Van Lines has been moving households and businesses out of Rahway, New Jersey since 1975. Crews are trained in-house on packing, padding, hoisting and specialty handling - pianos, pool tables, antiques, artwork and safes - and our supervisors carry decades of local, interstate and international experience. We are fully licensed, accredited and insured.
