I have been studying ESL lessons with Maura for almost 3 weeks and I have been enjoying a lot. She is a great professor, very friendly, she has a huge experience and has been providing me lots of tips to improve my English. She has an excellent method to teach you during the conversations that make the classes be so funny and instructives at the same time.

My niece visiting from Japan and took lessons twice a week for an about a month with Maura. She really liked Maura's lesson style and found it much more effective than classes she has been taking at her university in Japan. Maura's rate was much more reasonable, though she has long experience in teaching as an ESL teacher.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start assessing the student's English level from our very first meeting. I ask them several questions - how they use English, what they believe are their weak points, how much are they exposed to English, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Besides having a TESOL certification, I also worked in big companies in New York for many years so I am very familiar with American business culture. In addition, I have been to many countries and love meeting people from all over the world. I believe this makes me culturally sensitive and comfortable with diversity.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
After losing my job due to the American economy melt down in 2009, I decided to get an ESL certification as I have always enjoyed international issues/culture, etc, like the English language and am very friendly and social.
