It was an easy job. Not many heavy things to move. They brought a dolly which saved a ton of time. They were very professional and easy going. The truck was unloaded, boxes went in my garage, desk bed and tv stand where they corresponded, job was done right and quickly. All this in about an hour! Thanks for sending two awesome guys to help!

Arthur was very quick to respond and very helpful!!! I thought I had all of the parts for him to do a quick and easy tv mount and didn't, so he even offered to just go to Home Depot and get new parts to ensure the job was complete before he left. Thank you so much!

Brian was recommended to us by a friend. We had him remodel our kitchen to include new cabinets, new counter tops and back splash and tile on the floor. He also remodeled two bathrooms to include tile on the shower walls and floors and new vanities. Brian also ran two lights with motion sensors onto our patio. Brian finished the work two days early and we couldn't be more pleased. He was very polite and professional. We would recommend Brian to anybody needing work on there home.

LET ME BE VERY CLEAR: MIKE NONIES IS THE BEST CONTRACTOR I'VE EVER HAD WORK FOR ME...YOU'D BE FOOLISH TO LOOK FURTHER AND NOT HIRE HIM. WHO AM I? I am an investor and doctor who lives in a very high end neighborhood in Albuquerque. I have had over 50 contractors work for me as I do investment real estate...in 3 states. I have very high standards and OVER 50% OF MY REVIEWS ARE CRITICAL/NEGATIVE. I'm HONEST and I try to help others get good results. WHY MIKE NONIES? 1. Mike is HIGHLY VERSATILE. I've found nothing that he can't do. He does concrete, plumbing, electrical, decks, carpentry, dry wall, stucco...everything. 2. Mike is HIGHLY....HIGHLY competent. You will get an outstanding result. 3. Mike is HIGHLY...HIGHLY ethical. He is honest about his hours, goes out of his way to err on the side of only charging you for time spent. 4. Mike is HIGHLY...HIGHLY independent and trustworthy. He got upset with me for being around the house too much and said I could feel free to do all my other tasks and he would not need supervision. He was RIGHT. He works completely independently, has great judgment, is creative and problem solves. He did NOT need ANY supervision 5. Mike is EASY GOING, NICE, KIND, GOOD TO BE AROUND. NO troubles. NO problems. Do you know what THAT is worth? 6. Mike takes INITIATIVE. If he sees something that will make the outcome better, he just does it without being asked. 7. Mike is PROUD of his work and makes sure you are SATISFIED. 8. Mike is a good PLANNER. He figures out easily what to start first and what to do next making sure the job is coordinated. 9. Mike does not get STUMPED. He problem solves. 10. I made a prior mistake and hired a completely unethical contractor to do a prior deck job. AWFUL result. Mike repaired the prior job, which I wasn't even sure could be done, and the result was terrific at a reasonable cost. 11. Mike's fee per hour (I did not use a bid) was MORE than fair. Not "cheap" but very reasonable. THIS GUY IS TERRIFIC. SNAP HIM UP. IF YOU CAN GET MIKE TO WORK FOR YOU, YOU WILL BE GETTING an EXTREMELY COMPETENT GUY AT A FAIR PRICE WHO WILL DO GREAT FINISH WORK AND WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE EASY. YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY DO BETTER. EVERYONE ELSE I'VE USED ON THUMBTACK HAD RISKS. NO RISKS HERE. WAIT IN LINE IF YOU HAVE TO. MIKE CAN USE ME FOR A REFERENCE. IF YOU ARE NEEDING TO ASK A SPECIFIC QUESTION, JUST CALL.

I hired Merritt to install a large TV on a mount. Their price was reasonable and they brought out the correct mount. The crew was professional and very clean. They hid the wires and took the time to set up the TV and show me how to work it. I will rehire for the next TV.

Bought a 40 y.o. foreclosure. Everything substandard, even the meters had been removed. No electrical, gas; a real mess. RGZ came in and did 200A (my request) upgrade including: -obtaining permission from PNM for new 200A upgrade (has to be formally requested for residential service) -installed new exterior main panel back fed to an interior subpanel (again my request) -installed a tall (due to tree problem) but rigid + properly secured (with guy line) mast from good pipe. -All work passed inspection in about 60 seconds: tag issued immediately, without any corrections. -Then RGZ managed the PNM service drop from the pole. -All work done quickly (house had power in five days after initial work commenced), without any mistakes or me having to be involved. -All work executed with care and the least amount of invasive cutting of interior walls or exterior stucco. Patching interior cuts were easy due to RGZ's careful incisions. No damage to bushes, plants etc. -All work done on agreed budget; no 'extras' or 'I forgot' etc. -Mortgage appraisal guy impressed with quality of work. -Fully intend to use for future expansion needs.

Joe Rodarte has done excellent work remodeling our home for quite a few years. He renovated our sun room into a functional living space. He created fantastic custom book cases to our exact specifications. Joe did all the cabinet assembly and installation for our new kitchen. He designed an artful frame for our marble wall mosaic. He is a master craftsman. His work is first quality and beautiful. Personally, Joe is agreeable to work with. He makes valuable suggestions but also carried through each of our projects so that we got exactly what we wanted. We highly recommend Joe!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who wall mounts TVs?

Electricians, handymen and TV installation specialists may all provide television mounting services. The person who does the mounting should be qualified and knowledgeable about basic construction concepts as well as working with audiovisual cables. In general, no specialized certificates are required to provide television mounting services, but as always do your diligence and make smart hiring decisions.

It’s important to find an experienced professional who will ensure the TV wall mount meets building code. Most regions have fire codes that don’t permit high-voltage power cords behind walls (low-voltage wires like HDMI and video cables are generally acceptable). A basic wall mount on drywall may take approximately one to two hours, while more complex mounts on brick or stone with hidden cables can take three or more hours. If you need more electrical outlets installed near your entertainment system, you may want to hire an electrician. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to mount a TV?

Elevate your home style with television mounting services. The national average price for television mounting services ranges between $100 and $130. Factors that can affect cost are the material of the wall you want the TV mounted on, whether you want the wires hidden, and any additional entertainment system connection you desire. It probably costs more to mount a TV on brick, stone or concrete than on drywall or plaster due to the added labor required to drill holes. For example, a company may charge an additional $99 to mount a TV on a brick wall. Here are some examples of average costs for television mounting services:

  • Basic TV wall mount: $40. Does not include bracket, device connection or strip management.
  • TV wall mount: $119. Includes bracket, mounting services, strip management system (for concealing external wires), and connection of all entertainment devices.
  • TV wall mount with wires hidden inside wall: $139.
  • Installation of additional electrical outlet: $65.
  • TV wall mount over fireplace with wires hidden: $179-$249.
  • TV wall mount and up to 5 speakers wall-mounted with hidden wires: $399.

Can a TV be mounted above a fireplace?

You may be able to mount your flat screen TV above your fireplace for a more streamlined look in your living room. In fact, TV mounting professionals can hang your flat screen TV flush with a wall or from a tilting or full-motion bracket mount in any room in your home. A tilting or full-motion mount may be the best option above a fireplace so you can tilt the TV down for the best viewing angle. Whether the wall above your fireplace is brick, drywall, concrete, stone or plaster, most television mounting services can accommodate your needs. Hardier wall surfaces like concrete or brick will require more labor and expertise to mount, and will likely have a higher price range.

If you want your AV and cable wires hidden in the wall, you will also pay a higher price due to the added time and skill to properly drill the holes and run wires. Before mounting your TV above your fireplace, consult with the manufacturer about necessary distance from heat sources. If the space above your fireplace gets too warm, another location could be better for the longevity of your TV. Your television mounting services may take between one and two hours, or more depending on your home theater setup.
