FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Currently, I have very low overhead and I try to pass on that savings to potential clients, so I have reduced my shop rate accordingly.I have a standard rate that I charge and it makes me competitive in the local market.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I've been the chief cook and bottle washer for most of my time as a self employed person. I meet each new client as if I were meeting any new person. 'How's the weather?' What would you like me to make for you? What do you have in mind? Basically I just try to connect and then begin the process of creating together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I actually went to school to learn woodworking. When I first arrived at a work situation that involved what I had been taught, I found that my school training had given me an advantage over those who had come to the 'trade' via different paths. I had learned some tricks from my teachers, that I would have had to learn through trial and error otherwise. Woodworking is not rocket science though. I like making things and I've learned from this one and that one and I've made up some things as well.
