What a tremendous help moving us into our 3rd floor apartment. Bob and Vic worked in almost 100 degrees (mid afternoon). They very carefully hauled all of our furniture and boxes up the stairs (some pieces very heavy 200 lbs probably, and awkward). They were extremely friendly and offered us a lot of information on the new area. I would recommend anyone to this company if they were in need of general moving, house care, or really anything that may need to be done. Both Bob and Vic seem very well versed in many fields and I am so glad they were able to help us settle in!

Exceptional!! This was the first time Solis Building Services cleaned for us. Rigoberto and his father, both very professional and lovely to deal with, came to view the house on a Saturday (to accommodate my work schedule) and we talked about the scope of work we wanted done. A proposal was given on the spot. The initial cleaning was a deep clean as I had spent my weekends (work full time) in the garden for weeks and the house had been shamefully neglected for longer than I will admit to. I was at work when they cleaned so I don't know how long it took them and the result is what is important, but my husband said 4 people came and he believes it was all done in about 2 hours (he left once they got there). Very efficient especially given the state the house was in. The result was far, far beyond anything I had expected. My normally disinterested husband even posted a note on the front door (as a joke): "DON"T TOUCH ANYTHING! IT'S CLEAN!". They cleaned the windows and slider door inside and out as well as the tracks. Hadn't been done in a year and the result was spotless! Old English lemon oil was used on the furniture. The slate kitchen floor was scrubbed to perfection. The (many) picture frames were all dusted and even the coffee pot was shinier than new. My husband has a bad habit of throwing all his shoes into a pile and they even lined them up in the closet. That they would take such care really impressed him. The top of the bathroom tissue roll was even formed into a rosette, a professional touch that again showed how much they cared and take pride in the details. There is not a thing I can imagine they could have done better. Again, they far exceeded any expectations and it is impossible to list here everything they did. We've hired them to come bi-monthly (just the 2 of us so we don't really need weekly cleaning). I so look forward to coming home after a hard week's work and being presented with the gem of a really, really clean house. Oh, and their rates? Amazing. If you need, or are considering, hiring someone for housekeeping, call Solis first. there just can't be anyone better out there. Rigoberto, I can't thank you, your father and your professional crew enough!!

James was great to work with. I had a very small "in house" project moving some heavy furniture. He went out of his way to do this small move for me. The rate was great and he is professional, efficient, and courteous. I will be calling him again and very highly recommend him for any moving project you may have.

I have used Mike Baxter and his various helpers on many of my moves over the past few years. I buy and remodel homes and resell them, as well as own rental properties, and as a result, I often move into one of my properties for a period of time. I collect antiques and art, and therefore, I would never allow one of the corporate moving companies to touch my valuable possessions EVER AGAIN. Mike is well trained in the fine art of moving expensive items…conversely, if I need him to get rid of some items in one of my rental properties fast, such as an old refrigerator, and do it on a paper thin budget, Mike is THE guy! He is very polite, hard working and does not have time for small talk during a job. He is laser focused on getting it done, on time, with nothing scratched or dented, and with you, the customer, ending up very happy. At the end of the job, then he will take a breather. As an Interior Designer to the very well to do on the shores of Lake Tahoe, it was my job to move older items out of their homes and replace them with new items. I know how difficult it can be to find someone who is capable of REAL White-Glove Service…someone who can remove their shoes, put on gloves if necessary when moving an upholstered piece, and tip toe quietly across those inlaid wood floors while carrying heavy furniture and appliances. Mike is capable of all of the above. If it is a much more ‘fast and get-it-done’ type of move that you need at a reasonable price, Mike is the best at that as well. Unlike most of the movers you will find online who have zero experience in caring for your items, Mike can move fast AND make sure the dishes don’t drop on the concrete AND he won’t charge you several times the initial quote at the end of the job…which is what most movers do. He can pack a truck so that items do NOT shift, which is the major cause of breakage and damage to items… in the business of moving. I have spent a lifetime using every moving company around, as well as every mover online in my area, and I ALWAYS had my items damaged. Mike is the only mover who has moved me many, many times and has never left a scratch on any item. He is a good person, a good soul, a good father, and he served our country. Moving is hard… even with the very best, it’s still hard. But I can trust Mike with all my treasures.

It is with pleasure that I am able to recommend Matt Burgoyne and his company, Biggest Little Movers, to anyone planning a move. We contacted this group through their entry on Craigslist. My query was answered promptly and clearly with terms and availability. Matt and three others were about ten minutes early, and dove right in. They worked hard, were up to the challenge of our heaviest pieces of furniture, and took care to avoid damaging anything. They did a good job of packing the truck, and were thoughtful about moving furniture into tricky places. They worked with good spirit and humor. We enjoyed them, and would choose to use them again with no hesitation. Please feel free to call me.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.
