Introduction: Hi, I’m Heidi
I was born and raised in Bolivia, South America. My first language is Spanish. I believe that the best and most effective way of learning a language is from a native speaker. I know I have the ability to teach proper Spanish in the most effective way.
My classes are designed around the student’s needs and I make every effort to maintain a personalized approach for each student. Before the first lesson, I talk with the students to determine the goals they wish to achieve and lay out a plan with them to accomplish these goals. I am very flexible with my time, but currently only tutor from home. I like to teach in a quiet and relaxing environment. I provide a setting that facilitates mental stimulation and learning. I encourage feedback from students to better help us both recognize areas in which we could make improvements. I promote an open line of communication between tutor and student that helps create a setting that is more of a conversation rather than a lecture. I use different learning principles and techniques depending the student’s age and their current knowledge of the Spanish language. I enjoy teaching and I do try to make my classes fun and worthwhile.
About my training, I don’t have a formal teaching degree. However, I have a degree in veterinary medicine and biology technician from Bolivia. Since I was young I found that my passion is teaching. Back in my country, I used to tutor different subjects such as reading and writing to children and chemistry and biology to young adults. I moved to USA few years ago. About two years ago, after having learned English, I decided to teach again. Initially I worked with family members, then started providing personal lessons to children and adults alike. I recently moved to Henderson and look forward to have the same positive teaching experience.
My passion is teaching my native language. I enjoy when my students can communicate and understand Spanish in a short time. This is my goal.
