I have been a periodic guitar player since high school (27 yo) but had felt a plateau in my progress for about three years before I decided to take my first guitar lesson. Thumbtack proved to be a valuable resource for this endeavor. I had all the fundamentals down but could not enter the realm of riff creation, so I met with a few people, three to be exact. Though they were great guitarists and patient teachers, they could not teach me anything. Dave's profile already had me thinking he was gonna be a good fit, but it didn't take long for me to realize the wealth of guitar knowledge I had access to. He immediately knew what skill level I was on and gave me homework and chords that were the perfect level of difficulty. After five lessons with Dave, he had provided me all the missing pieces I needed to complete my web of guitar communicating skills, and I stopped meeting with him. I knew I was going to do it long term and for the past four years, I've been playing a fair amount and have been very happy with my progression. I haven't played much over the past year due to limited space for guitars and the lack of free hands. I just started playing again and am rusty, so I came back on here to find Dave in order to level up with him again. Can't believe I didn't leave a review last time, sorry Dave. I cannot recommend Dave enough. This man can do everything with a guitar and knows the ultimate technicality of the music as a science, which is what a student needs from a teacher.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

    Most often I am hired to play the guitar, both lead & rhythm. Sometimes I am required to sing background harmonies, which I love. Occasionally I am asked to sing lead. Often I am hired to teach guitar on a weekly basis.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    Look for dedication to their craft on a personal level. If they take their own musicianship seriously and have dedicated themselves to personal excellence you stand a good chance of being happy with your choice.
