Hello, my name is Chris. My journey as a handy guy started about 20 years ago in Denver CO, when I helped friends renovate their first homes. We even wound up on a couple HGTV shows doing it. I always sought out expert advice and always went into every project with full force. Every skill I've learned was built on the foundation of failures in the past. Now that I am here in Las Vegas, I have a workshop in my garage where I have been fine tuning my wood working skills. I have fully renovated my house in and out (still actually working on some parts of it). I have been trusted to take care of 3 surgical facilities and 6 large medical clinics. I’ve hung art that costs more than a couple Ferraris in fine art galleries. I’ve built Production Studios for music producers and Pod Casters. I've been involved in 5 house flipping projects where we had a budget and a timeline. I also Co-Own a property management company since 2017. This business began with my own properties and extended to a few friends and clients. I am a perfectionist, but I choose to work smart and precise, rather than too slow and intricate. I have skilled sub contractors ready for larger projects in all facets. I guarantee my work, and if there is something I don't feel comfortable doing, I will tell you. I also have a good radar for roots and causes of any problems that occur in homes. Oh and I have an awesome family with two happy little kids. I also do this for them. Chris did an excellent job today taking care of 6 or 7 tasks for me. He is extremely professional and conscientious about the quality of his work which was first rate. Changing ceiling lights, putting in new air filters, hauling away patio furniture, placing new water fountains, and even going to a hardware store when the light bulbs I had were wrong, Chris took on each job and completed it quickly and efficiently. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first hour is $120. Every hour after is the regular hourly. For large projects that require a few days, we can set a more firm price on my services. The client is responsible for material costs (not minor things like a few screws or small amount of wall patch). Some projects require me to fabricate something in my workshop, or to pick up bulk materials from a vendor or supplier, I may charge for that time as well. We will talk about anything like that before I just add charges. I am conscious about time that I don’t feel I should charge for. For example, if we are just talking about life, I’m off the clock. If I make a mistake that causes me to need run to the store to correct, it’s off the clock. We are human, so I like to stay reasonable.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I listen first. After I hear what the client wants, I request a photo of the work area and/or the item to be replaced. Sometimes it requires me to plan a preliminary visit for measurements and material. Other times, I can bring everything and just get working on the project. I work as efficiently as I can to get the project done, no lunch breaks, or long walks in the park. If I need to run to pick up a tool or item I should have on me, I do not charge a client for that time. Towards the end of the project the client reviews the work with me. I’ll make any final adjustments or changes that they suggest, and I end on a good note. My work is guaranteed for a reasonable amount of time.
