Introduction: Sarah Lester, The Glitter Groomer, has over 19 years of hands on holistic pet care background and education. With the high cost of vet bills and knowing the basic grooming school (online) is over $2,500 or $8,000 for live training, it is well worth your time and investment to book a Pet Wellness consultation service. **VIEW THE COUNTLESS REVIEWS / IMAGES ON THE WEBSITE. HUMANITY VS. VANITY: Glitter Groomer does not rush your pet through the grooming process which is more calming & the shop doesn't overbook which reduces noise, anxiety & health related issues. Each pet is properly greeted and given the adequate time to connect with The Glitter Groomer (Sarah Lester). The Glitter Groomer checks for pulse, heart rate, and eye stress during the entire grooming process to make sure every animal is given the time they need to feel comfortable. If a pet requires a groomer's assistant due to their special physical and personality needs a minimum $25 fee is applied. Each pet has a full kennel card, a complete record of the groom, prices, tips, and animal behavioral issues. From basic coat brushing, health maintenance routines, the do's and do not's, training, to allergies, skin issues, stool issues, food issues, behavioral issues, holistic healing, and more extreme questions in regards to pet health concerns your answers will be provided or you will be pointed in the right direction to the appropriate specialist that is trusted and recommended. Sarah Lester believes: "Our domesticated pets were taken out of the wild and created to be what they are now, by man. It is man's duty to take care of these creatures as they cannot, now, take care of themselves. We must educated ourselves to be the best human we can be to what it is our species created. It is inhumane to let an animal needlessly suffer out of human ignorance. It is the right of every animal to have the best quality of life a human can provide." PRANA PET HEALING OFFICE Bring your pet and your learning shoes on to a relaxing environment where your pet will feel at home while you go to school. Conditioner takes three times the amount of water to wash out than shampoo. The added moisture to the coat also causes the pets coat to take twice as long to dry. Conditioner is not recommended for pets who are getting scissor trims. - Earthbath w/ Added Apple Cider Vinegar (sensitive dry skin, dandruff, skin exfoliation) - Bio-Groom Oatmeal (very dry skin, dandruff, hives) FACE MUD PACK For the softest coat, longest lasting deep down clean smell, the dead sea salt mud pack is the perfect option for pampered pets. If you have a pet with face folds, excessive tear stains, or other conditions that keep your pet from smelling fresh and being comfortable, ask for the dead sea salt mud pack. This option is for baths only, the fur is too soft for any scissor trimming after use. Your pet will soak in the face pack for 10 minutes. Due to the moisture the treatment takes a while to wash out, and the face fur to dry. | $5.00 (small - med) | $10.00 (Large - Xtra Large) | $20.00 (Giant) TEETH BRUSHING Tropiclean Teeth Brushing Service (Your pet will have a full teeth brushing during the bath which includes tongue, all teeth front and back, with Tropiclean all natural mint toothpaste. The teeth brushing is following by Tropiclean all natural mint foaming mouth spray where the pets teeth, roof of mouth, and tongue are again brushed with the product and a double ended tooth brush for maximum service.) | $8.00 (Small - Med) | $11.00 (Large - Xtra Large) | $15.00 (Giant) Other Fees ALL BELOW CHARGES ARE NEGOTIABLE DEPENDING OF LENGTH OF CLIENT RELATIONSHIP WITH THE GLITTER GROOMER OR CONDITION OF THE PET. (This is at The Glitter Groomer's Discretion.) THE GLITTER GROOMER DOES NOT OFFER MULTIPLE PET OR DISABILITY DISCOUNTS. De-matting | $20.00 (per pet per every 1/2 hour) If the pet parent cannot get a comb through the pet's fur at the time of grooming drop off, more than likely extra brushing is needed to get the pet's coat in acceptable health condition. Client is notified at the time of drop off of the possible charge. 15 minutes of brushing / de-matting is offered with all grooms. For any time spent after the initial complimentary de-matting service of 15 minutes, and hour is automatically charged to the fee (the client is called an informed of charge.) In addition to de-matting, additional conditioner may be required to make the process easier for the groomer and pet. When the pet is picked up at the end of the groom, the parent is instructed on proper brushing techniques so the pet does not have to undergo the torture of de-matting ever again. The pet's kennel card will be updated with de-matting, places of matting, cost, animal behavior during the process, and all other notes. If the pet parent's schedule does not permit for proper in home coat maintenance for their animal, brush out appointments can be arranged to keep your pet living with a good quality of life. Hand Scissoring / Guard Comb | $20.00 (per pet per every 1/2 hour) If the pets cut requires the use of a guard or "duck comb" to achieve the "puppy" or fluffy look on any part of it's body, the pet will be required to be completely hand scissored after the use of the guard. (The guard comb attachment takes 3 times as long as normal grooming blades and always requires finishing work with scissors.) Hand scissoring is added time and effort to the groom which translates into added cost for the high quality look you want for your pet. The total cost per half hour with guard comb and/or hand scissoring does NOT include basic lamb or breed standard clips unless hair on legs is longer than 1 inch. Pre-Shaving | $20.00 (per pet per every 1/2 hour) For the "summer shave down" or extremely matted condition pets, a pre-shave is required to release the dirt from the pets coat and skin during the bathing process, to speed up the drying time, to examine for any skin irritations. This requires extra time for the groomer, as well as extra cleaning and sharpening of the grooming tools required to remove a dirty, matted, thick coat. This is not a free service. Upon booking the grooming appointments clients are to address their intentions of a "extreme shave down" and will be informed of possible charges. At the time of grooming drop off the charge is discussed and reviewed with the client before departure. Special Handling Charge | $25.00 (per assistant per hour) The price and service is determined upon check in Client is given a price range before leaving Client is updated with pet behavior issues during process Pet kennel card is updated with details of service, and progress Most pet behavior issues are corrected by the second groom After behavior issues are corrected client is no longer charged a special handling fee Special handling fee is also applied to any sedated pet (client is expected to arrange with groomer about any medication pet is to receive prior to grooming at the time of booking the appointment or appointment confirmation) Special Handling Fee Applies to: PUPPIES, ELDERLY, DISABLED, BEHAVIORAL ISSUES I love taking a shy timid puppers who has either had a bad experience or has been traumatized for whatever reason and turning them into a proud confident diva or rock-star! It starts with a great bath, lots of attention, and in the end showing them their bandana they earned for being a great dog! Once they see their bandana, they are very excited and get ready to take their picture. Some puppers sit stoically and some smile with their tongue hanging out, either way they are all happy when their parents arrive for pick up and parade around! This is why I highly suggest building a relationship with your groomer, if you truly care for your puppers. When you find a great groomer that your pet loves, don't stray away for a cheap coupon, or because you need to get your pet in "that day". You never know how that groomer works, and if they won't love your animal they way they deserved to be loved.

My senior golden retriever, Audrey 9 yrs, has been going to Sara since 2013! The first time Sara preformed "coat surgery" (Sarah's version of grooming) Audrey felt like a chinchilla, smelled like a spring meadow, and looked like a Westminster show dog for weeks!! Sarah has been my Glitter Groomer ever since!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Read my reviews, they speak for themselves! If you are looking for Quality, then look no further. If you are looking for a cheap groom, go to Bubba's Chop Shop for Dogs where they take in as many dogs as they can, and get them done as quickly as possible to get the dollar because groomers only make 50% of what the client pays. The shop makes the rest, so you aren't paying your groomer very much to cut on your beloved animal, and the groomer doesn't really care, it's just a dog/dollar. A client can't blame the groomer, when I started grooming in 1997 the average price of a haircut was $45 for a small dog. The prices haven't changed in the grooming industry, but the price of everything else went up... which means your groomer isn't getting paid enough to survive in 2016 which means your groomer takes in more dogs and doesn't give your pet the quality you feel it deserves. Go to Bubba's Turn and Burn Grooming if you want fast and/or cheap with a side of a little dog trauma, NOT to the Glitter Groomer! Quality people pay for quality, and I don't lower my standards for anybody. I care too much about animals to lower my standards for some pet owner who is looking for a deal.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Your pet will be pampered with Soft Clean Blankets, Water Bowls, *Food Dishes, Calming Music, Lavender Aromatherapy, Teeth Brushing, Specialty Shampoo, Specialty Conditioner, Face and Neck Mud Pack, Complete Fluff Dry, Glitter Coat/Skin Conditioning Spray or tea tree spray, Manicured Paws (clear nail polish *colored requested), stylish bows or bandanas, final pictures. *Owner must bring pet food

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do you homework, look at their images, reviews, and visit their location before booking. If you feel off about the person, there is probably a good reason for it. If you feel comfortable with them, then your pet will. Most importantly remember, you always get what you pay for. If you are looking for a cheap groomer, you will get just that... a cheap groom. If you want a person that will take their time with your pet, and NOT treat it as if they are of a doggy conveyor belt going through the motions, then you will have to pay a little bit more for quality service.
