FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm constantly evolving with tech but its not always about the gear, it's what you do with it. Although I'm very proficient with photoshop and my gear I know photographers who still shoot some film with awesome results. Again it's the artist, not the gear.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I always loved the camera and music from an early age. In my early 30s I started shooting local bands for a local magazine. Stage lighting is a challenge if you've never done it but once you learn it you can capture real magic! While shooting musicians onstage I was also doing promotional portraits and other photography they needed including family portraits. This pushed me in a new direction of portraiture, less posed, more natural. I was always shooting a variety of subjects and won awards and such but there was always something about landscapes. Big, colorful sunsets or a cloudy winter day on the praire can be equally mesmerizing.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The call comes and I go. The more unusual the better. Lately stages, baby shoots, private shoots for people in the public eye (who need to trust who is shooting), and stock, I have a huge library and if it's not in my library and you need it I'll go get it.
