Introduction: Greetings! Thanks for viewing my quote! Here's some info that I'm confident will convince you that I'm the ideal choice for your needs. (UPDATE! I've been awarded the Steinway & Sons 2018 Top Teacher Award. This award is presented to very select teachers across the US and Canada who have exemplified excellence in their commitment to teaching and inspiring students in the study of piano performance. ) Background: I have 30 years of seasoned experience as an internationally known teacher and concert pianist, with experience teaching the entire spectrum of students from beginning to professional level, ages 5 through adult. I teach both in-studio and online coast to coast to thrilled students of all levels. My online lessons are equally effective as my in-person lessons due to my first-rate skills as a teacher. I have degrees in piano performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, the largest and one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. I am on the summer piano faculty at the internationally renown Interlochen Center for the Arts, which draws 2700 students from 50 countries. In addition to judging competitions across the US, I was also invited in Nov 2017 to judge the MusiQuest National Piano Competition in India, where I also lectured to teachers about best practices in teaching and performing. In Oct 2019 I returned to India for a very successful concert tour with master classes in the Mumbai area, and in Nov 2019, I've been invited by the South Dakota Music Teachers Assn to be their Convention Artist, where I'll present a concert, judge competitions, and give lectures on best practices in teaching. Competency: The competency of the teacher, whether for beginner levels or advanced, is of critical importance. Many parents will assume that simply opting for the cheapest teacher will be sufficient for a beginner. Nothing is further from the truth, as I very often get transfer students who were greatly held back in their progress due to teachers who weren't very deeply trained. Having a concertizing track also enhances my teaching skills; the best teachers are experienced in both teaching and performing. I work with a set of studio policies that specifies all policies in complete detail, in order to ensure students/parents' understanding of all expectations and to avoid any confusion. I am vetted annually by all local, state and federal law enforcement agencies prior to returning to teach at Interlochen, to ensure that my background check remains completely perfect. Both Leisure/Enjoyment & Serious Instruction, Coast to Coast: I provide both in-studio and online piano instruction, and have students across the U.S. as well as in the Las Vegas area, where I'm the most experienced private teacher in the city. My teaching path is different for each student, depending on your goals and likes. Not everyone wants to be a professional pianist; I take both leisure students as well as serious students and give both a quantum leap forward in both their skill level and their enjoyment of the piano. My style of teaching is positive, constructive, and nurturing, at all levels. If you're a serious student, I will position you to qualify for large college scholarships and the preeminent music schools. Pricing: Thumbtack recently changed the way that we provide quoting, eliminating my ability to give you a customized quote, so I will provide exact quotes upon your inquiry to me. People have differing needs, frequency of lessons, no. of family members, and goals, etc., so unlike a plumber quoting on Thumbtack, my pricing reflects your personal situation. If you're seeking online lessons, I can explain how those work, which for me is almost exactly like an in-person lesson; nothing is lost from using the online format. I give a limited number of need-based scholarships to promising students. Join the many thrilled parents and students that I've worked with, and let me take you to the next level very quickly and enjoyably with my positive, constructive teaching style. -Pierce Emata Most of all, I enjoy making a difference in students' lives, whether giving them a lifelong pastime of pleasure in playing the piano, or preparing students to be accepted into world class universities and graduate schools. I thrive on the human interaction, and inspiring students. I take great pleasure in my work, and every parent and student will affirm that.

As a former piano student of Pierce Emata's and now professional musician myself, I can say with confidence that there is no better piano teacher in Las Vegas when it comes to taking this instrument seriously. For those who want it, Pierce will push you to new heights and mold you into the musician you were always meant to be. Pierce will always bring his A-game during a lesson. He will never waste your time, and he will always make sure to treat you with respect. That being said, Pierce will never underestimate your capacity to put the work in. He will challenge you, but never unfairly, and always within your ability to meet that challenge. For those who want to get the most out of their piano education, this is absolutely essential. Anywhere you hope to go musically, Pierce Emata is equipped to take you there and beyond. As living testament to the merits of his pedagogy, I highly recommend his services.

Piano Lessons

Pierce is incredible! He’s a great teacher. I’ve been taking lessons for one year, and I sound great. That’s because Pierce doesn’t only teach the fingerings for exercises and songs, he also teaches expression and musicality. And since he is also a concert pianist, he brings that knowledge to his teaching. If you’re looking for a teacher, contact Pierce immediately!

Piano Lessons

Pierce Emata has been one of the best teachers I have worked with. Not only is he thorough in helping you finely perfect a piece, but he is excellent at teaching you along the way in terms and concepts that you can understand. Pierce's technique ability, for me, is what really set him apart from other teachers. Having taking lessons for over twenty years, the time I spent with Pierce changed my whole way of playing the piano for the better. As a teacher myself, I have learned how to help children at a young age establish better habits and progression through his teaching techniques and mastery of the piano. Pierce Emata is a top choice!

Pierce is an exceptional teacher. Although he is an accomplished pianist, he is able to relate to the struggles of a relatively new student. I had a couple of other teachers before I found Pierce. His approach to teaching is unique. When I first came to Pierce I was tense and unsure of myself when I played. I am much more relaxed now and my technique and sight reading has greatly improved. Playing and practicing the piano is much more fulfilling than it used to be. I am very glad to have found such a talented teacher.

A wonderful professor of music who is an excellent teacher and performer He understands the needs of the adult student which is very important to me. He gives constructive and positive instruction while making it interesting by interjecting musical history facts and stories about the great composers. I have steadily progressed in my piano performance and hope to continue and become much more proficient in the coming year . I highly recommend Professor Emata to anyone serious about learning the piano and studying with a consummate professor of Music 🎶 🎹🎼

Background Check

Pierce Emata

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I collect information about the student's needs, desired goals and background, if they've taken lessons before. I provide a copy of my detailed studio policies, additional information about my background, and will confer by phone, in person, or by Skype to answer any and all questions the student/parent has. If the student has taken lessons before or knows how to read music, then I'll assess what level they're at and what their learning needs are, and create a roadmap of their development as I see it. That provides students and parents with a clear picture of what they can expect from lessons with me.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I was educated at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, which is the largest and one of the most internationally prestigious music schools in the world. I am both a master teacher and concert pianist. I am in a constant mode of self development, through presenting new concerts, engaging with top tier peers about the science of piano teaching, and my summer work also exposes me to international piano students, where I can observe many different styles of teaching from around the world. I also observe and coach students across the U.S. for music teacher organizations as well as abroad.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

My versatility serves my Customers extremely well. I teach all musical styles, music theory, and composition. I've worked with students at all levels, literally. Age range: 6 to Adult. Level: from total beginners all the way up to active piano teachers and performing professional pianists. Musical goals: I have students who take lessons for leisure and enjoyment, who learn as a skill that develops and results in their academic studies across all subjects, and serious students who aspire to attend world-class music schools/conservatories, earning major scholarships.
