Mrs. Haynal is such a caring and creative teacher. She truly wants her students to become successful readers and has an amazing way of tailoring her activities to the students' learning styles, so that school becomes a more positive and enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend her if you have a student that is struggling with reading.

About

Need a Japanese lesson, want to have a Japanese friend to practice your Japanese, or just interested in Japanese culture in general? I'm here for you! I was born and raised in Japan, and now living in United States. I love my country and culture, it is quite unique, and interesting to learn. I am licensed to teach Japanese, but I prefer more casual everyday practice than only following text book since that's how I improved my English.

About

As the mother of 2 dyslexic son, I know what it's like to struggle daily to help your children with homework and not know how to help. Today, I am trained to teach students phonetically in the Ortin-Gillingham method. It never ceases to amaze me how easily students with learning disabilities can learn to read, spell, add, subtract, etc., with the right tools! Does your child or an adult you know struggle to read rapidly or accurately? Can your child read, but have great difficulty sounding out unknown words despite being taught phonics? Does your child spend hours studying for spelling tests, yet cannot retain words from week to week? Does your child have trouble spelling when writing sentences or stories and even forget his or her high-frequency words such as like, because, friend, does? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, I can help. I am a reading and spelling tutor specializing in dyslexia. 1 in 5 Americans have dyslexia although many go undiagnosed. Within as little as one month, many students see an improvement. Some students have improved as much as 3 grade levels in one school year. Early intervention is the best, but it is never too late to get the help you or your child need. The average student attends 2 sessions a week during the school year. During the summer months, if you would like, we can invest more time in moving your student along faster. I tutor students in kindergarten to college. I am the mother of four children, two of whom are ADD and dyslexic. I became educated to tutor dyslexic students and students with similar disabilities out of necessity. The program I use allows me to help students end their frustrations and become capable students who can live up to their full potential. The program I use is a research-based, Orton-Gillingham, multisensory method that involves all of the senses: visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic. The program works on improving the following: * Phonemic awareness by listening to a single word or syllable and break it into individual phonemes. * Spelling through instruction and sight word recognition building upon itself through the entire program. * Fluency by incorporating! This is a repeated reading of decodable words, phrases and connected text. * Vocabulary expanded and enriched through direct instruction and in the context of reading. * Understanding of the English language through instruction of Latin and Greek root words' prefixes and suffixes.

I tutor students (ages 5 and up) in the Las Vegas area, who have difficulty in reading and spelling due to dyslexia, learning disabilities, or just delay in learning. After determining through a screening, if the barton system will help, we will begin a minimum of 2 days per week and 50-minute lessons. I have seen improvements in less than a month with some students.

Language Arts Academy believes that when teaching students a new language, it should be taught at the students' pace, while giving them a chance to process what they have learned. We are currently offering various levels of English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Mandarin classes for adults and children. We offer classes in group or private sessions to fit your schedule. We are very proud of our teachers; they are TOEFL certified, native speakers of the language they teach and have a master's degree or higher. They are a dynamic group and keep their students entertained as they learn. Besides language classes, Language Arts Academy offers different classes and services as well. We also have computer, DMV test prep, GED, math tutoring, and citizenship classes. We are certified translators and do translations for DMV, immigration, or personal documents. A public notary is available to notarize any documents needed. Our translations and interpretation services have been used by the Nevada DMV, the United States Government, Care 4 Life, Walgreens, Delano Las Vegas, Don Nacho Tequila, and the Wine and Spirits Convention.

About

I speak fluent French (native language). I have been working with children in dentistry (my field for over 25 years) and as a nanny, so I'm familiar with interaction with children.

About

I am a trained reading specialist. I am rather expensive because I am a reading specialist. The children I focus on are slow readers; even though they can read, they have great difficulty sounding out unknown words despite being taught phonics. These children often have problems with high-frequency words (like, because, was, friend, etc). They tend to have difficulty retaining words even when studying for hours for Friday's spelling test. These are the type of children I tutor. They also might have directional confusion or might have dysgraphia. They are very intelligent children with great skills, but they have to learn things a little bit differently. Contact me if you'd like to meet with me for a free consultation.
