Carol has trained two of our dogs as puppies. Our second dog was a little more difficult to handle and really needed the training. Carol was always a phone call away to answer questions or help out when needed. As a result we have two very well behaved good dogs!! Most definitely worth the money!! I would recommend her to train every dog!!

Jenn helped my husband and me in dealing with and managing our aggressive dog, and eventually helped us in coping with the loss of him. After that, Jenn never lost touch, checking in with us to see how we were doing and even inviting us to watch a Search and Rescue training with her team (to this day one of the coolest, most impressive things I've ever witnessed). What we didn't realize was that Jenn would not only help us in dealing with the early loss of our pet, but she would help us become better dog owners. She has taught us everything from animal behavior to human behavior, how to effectively communicate with our canine companions, and how to lead a happy, balanced life with them. What impresses me about Jenn is not only her professionalism when meeting with clients, but her energy, passion and knowledge for dogs and helping others. Jenn spent countless hours with us offering us advice, pointing out to us what she was seeing in our dog and why it was happening, and what we could do to modify the behavior. Jenn takes a genuine, caring interest in the dogs she trains and the families she helps. I simply cannot put a price tag on what Jenn has done for my family (2-legged and 4-legged). If you are noticing issues in your dog, or are just interested in learning more about dog behavior (and in turn human behavior), I would not hesitate in the slightest to recommend Jenn to anyone and everyone. Don't bother looking anywhere else - the quality of her service is unrivaled!!

I do dog grooming and training. I have been raising dogs for over 30 years. I have tought all levels of obedience and conformation handling. I have shown dogs in AKC shows and I have put championship titles on many different breeds of my own and I handled for others. I have owned my dog-grooming shop for 20 years.

What makes us great is that we love dogs, and we have a passion for making people happy! I have two little boys at home and two dogs as well.

I am awesome at dog walking. Thank you for your interest. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more details.

I have been a pet enthusiast and dog owner since childhood. I walk dogs, care for cats, give shots and administer medicine to pets, and of course, play with them!

I love animals. I talk and walk with them. Animals need to be loved just like people. You got so many animals today that has not been raised right. They just need love like babies.

I do house sitting and dog sitting. I am a certified dog trainer. I can provide you with references. I travel as far as Florida. I have clients there.

I do both dog walking and dog sitting (out of home). I have been helping a SUNY New Paltz professor for two years with her large yellow lab. I am free after 3:30 PM from Monday-Thursday, all day on Friday and Saturday, and free on Sunday morning and evening.

Here in Albany, I operate a small independent affordable dog walking business. I travel to the client's house, let the pet(s) out, feed, walk, etc.

I will walk dogs and sit pets while you're out for the night or away on a vacation. I will take them to the dog park.

I make dog walks easy for dogs by teaching them how to walk comfortably with a person. The owner is required to supply gentle leader harness for their dog, so they can enjoy the walk experience as much as the walker!

I like to walk dogs. I want to work locally. I live in Northville, NY. Thank you for your interest. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more details.

I'm an avid lover of all kinds of pets, although, personally, I am more experienced with dogs due to the fact that I own one. I have flexible hours, and I am looking forward to working with you.

I am originally from Rochester, New York. I've been training dogs for over five years. The main thing that I have learned in doing this is to be patient. Some dogs can be trained faster than others. It really depends on the breed, but all dogs are trainable. You just have to know and use their own instincts that they are born with. I train dogs that are not housebroken, jumping on people, biting, barking, and pulling when you walk them. I can also teach commands depending what your needs are and what you want from your pet. I can come to you or you to me, whichever makes you comfortable. I am looking forward for all of you dog lovers out there to contact me, so you can have control for your family member and not have family, friends or guests be afraid to enter your home or even to lock your family member away when you do have visitors.

I previously worked at two veterinary hospitals as an assistant and receptionist. I also own three dogs of my own.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
