FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For the past 13 years I was a NYC Sandhog Local 147. I’ve worked on building the infrastructure for the MTA’s project of a new Grand Central Terminal under the old one. I have experience in operating many different types of heavy machinery. Mainly drills used to dig holes into caverns to then fill with explosives. To get a better understanding of my work experience and environment, my expertise is in rigging, excavation, concrete, blasting(explosives/dynamite) shotcrete etc. We are legally responsible for the building of any tunnels under 40ft and below, inside of NYC. I was a foreman for 5 of my thirteen years. Responsible for 5-10 men throughout my tenure. It is one of the most dangerous jobs known to man. Many have lost their lives. With that being said I bring an experience level of devout safety in any job you hire me to do. In the tunnels there is no reception and your foreman or walk on boss(the man in charge) could be a mile away, which forces you to have to problem solve to get the job done. So if you are curious to what kind of man you’re hiring to get the job done, YouTube NYC Sandhogs!! Thanks for taking the time to read. Whether you hire me or not, I appreciate your time; God Bless!!!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
During my tenure as a Laborer in union work, there would be periods of extended layoffs/no work. One of my coworkers had a junk hauling business and he would bring me along. It was a sigh of relief being that it wasn’t as taxing and demanding on the body as our regular profession. My father had a moving company as well while I was a teenager in high school and through my college years, so I have experience in transportation of furniture.
