Introduction: I am a recent retiree. I am a 59-year-old former analyst and social worker. Quite honestly, my formal education, training, and careers have had almost nothing to do with animal care. However, I have been caring for the pets of friends, neighbors, and relatives almost all of my life. I adore cats, dogs, and other animals and enjoy meeting and caring for new acquaintances. I provide part-time, temporary pet sitting services, including dog walking several times per day, caring for sick animals, and adhering to a training program if the owner has already initiated the program and provides the details of the regimen to me. I have been involved with several animal rescue agencies informally. During my years as an Adult Protective Service Worker, it was often necessary for me to place an elderly client in an appropriate residential facility. This frequently resulted in the orphaning of a well loved pet. My team gave the utmost attention to placing these suddenly orphaned, confused animals into appropriate homes. We never just took a pet to a shelter. We took this part of our job very seriously and often fostered the pets in our own homes until a proper placement could be found. This assured the wellbeing of the pet and also eased the transition of the previous owner into their new residence. We would make sure the previous owner received updated information regarding the placement of their beloved pet and often brought pictures and stories to the client regarding their pet. I prefer to care for the pets in their own home, although I would consider taking some pets into care in my own home temporarily depending on the circumstances. I have two mid-sized dogs and four cats. I have a very long dog run, which opens into a large rectangular dog yard. I have references which will be furnished upon request.
