I was a highly recruited point guard in Middle school as the 4th best player nationally ranked in America. I was the top point guard in high school and led my high school team to a national ranking of 5 in the country under the outstanding leadership of Coach Jack Curran. I led my team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals as a Junior and Senior. I went on to play at Penn State University and led my team in scoring as a freshman while being the runner-up for rookie of the year behind Chris Humphries. I ultimately obtained my bachelor's degree in labor Employment Relations from Penn State University after playing professional Basketball Overseas. I played professionally in several countries, including Cyprus, Hungary, the Dominican Republic, France, and Turkey. I cut my professional basketball career short on my own merit because I wanted to establish myself in America despite having multiple offers to play in different countries. I created a basketball program called "Marlon Smith Basketball” after my basketball career. My basketball program consists of 10 travel basketball teams, basketball camps operated throughout the school year and summer times, private lessons and group lessons. In 2018, I had the honor of assisting John Wallace in the TBT (The Basketball Tournament). I've had the opportunity to coach and train several NBA players like Russ Smith, Earl Boykins, Chris Smith, Sundiata Gaines, Kemba Walker, and more. In the last few years, I've traveled across the world using my experience and skills in Basketball to coach youth players in countries like the Maldives, India, Malawi, and South Africa. My most recent project, which I just returned from, was operating an international basketball camp and tournament for the country of Senegal entitled "Malawrise X Marlon Smith Basketball." I partnered up with Konko Ba to give kids in Dakar the resources and opportunities to become better basketball players by running a skills and drills one-week camp and tournament. This was our second year running the camp, and we grew from 20 kids ages 12-14 to a little over 80 kids which is a 400% growth rate.
