I had a great experience working with Esther on my first gut renovation in a co-op building. As someone who had never gone through a renovation like this before, I really appreciated how she explained things in simple, easy-to-understand terms and always took the time to make sure I understood what was happening.
There was one point when I was challenged by the building engineer, and I was honestly overwhelmed by the situation. She walked me through everything step by step, explained what I needed to know, and helped me navigate the process with much more confidence. That support meant a lot to me.
There were a few occasions when I had to wait longer than a week for an email response, which was frustrating at times. However, overall, I am very happy that I chose to work with her. She was knowledgeable, patient, and especially helpful in guiding me through a process that was completely new to me.
I have already referred friends who are going through similar renovation situations to her, and I would continue to recommend her to anyone looking for an architect. Especially for a first-time renovator, having someone who can explain things clearly and make the process less intimidating is invaluable.

Construction in NYC can be stressful and cumbersome, especially in a co-op such as my apartment, but Cheung Showman was extremely reliable and made the whole process as smooth as possible.They were highly communicative and efficient, and they ensured all rules and requirements of both the building and the DOB were met without hassle. We offer an affordable streamlined service, without the bells and whistles, to help our clients obtain the approvals and permits they need for their renovation.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, we start with a phone or zoom call with the customer to learn about the project. Then we follow-up by emailing them quote which includes an estimated timeline and estimated all-in budget for the project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Both founders of our company are registered architect in the state of New York and hold a Masters of Architecture degree.
